I watched this, some of it almost 60 years ago and am mesmerized by the feats of those that have gone before us.

Could we do this today?

Give yourself 45 minutes to watch this miracle right before your eyes.

We have become a bunch of selfish, ignorant, narcissistic, over fed, waiting on a hand out chit bags.

We have glorified failures,, failed cultures and useless people.

We have lost our mental and physical toughness.

We have become apologetic for what we are and what we have.

We have lost sight of what this great country is all about.

We have abandoned our faith and vilified those who still embrace it.

We have lost our schools to the enemy of this country.

    That is just a start.............

The Space Program brought a lot of leaps in Tech to this country. It made us into the world player in space. Now we have to work with other country's so we don't make them look worthless or to inspire them to space.

We pay to train, equip and lift people who are not even Americans and who frankly could give a toss for America.

NASA has become a joke with no new innovation. They talk about going to Mars and living there when anyone with a HS education knows that is not going to happen. Mars doesn't have enough gravity to sustain a "Permanent Colony". A moon base would make more sense with people rotated like at the ISS.

To think we have to have our astronauts lifted into space by the Russians is sick and we should be ashamed of that.

NASA makes me sick. They think more about diversity than they do science. I can just imagine sitting in one of their meetings planning who is going to do what..............women, man, bl*ck, asian........[xx(]

Sam yes, and the "media" has spoon fed sheep for decades and the sheep have blindly grazed and now we have some of the most ignorant people on the planet.
All the bowel movements pressed hard night after night day after day. Perhaps it is destiny and there is nothing we can do, somehow I hope that is not true and the insanity will slow. It's a wish, and yes, I will still be voting, it's the thing to do.

It's cheaper to let other countries do the well worked out part. And why the heck not, you can spend more on the stuff going up if you're not spending on the rocket.

Decades of dumbing down by the leftist controlled media and academia have finally manifested itself into what we see today.

You have 1/2 of the Country including most of the media and teachers of higher education pushing for Communism or just flat out Communism,, in the old days they would have been ran off,,now they are celebrated.

I consider myself well versed in communism (know your enemy) but I'm confused between "Communism (sic)" and "flat out Communism (sic)"

I'd add that we're so viciously Partisan that our religious devotion to a political party makes civil discourse a quaint anachronism. If anyone dares challenge what our favorite propaganda broadcasts tell us, they must be "Evil" and "The Enemy"

We're truly a sad, tribal little people today.

It's not the same country. If I remember correctly, it was the 1965 Immigration law sponsored by Ted Kennedy et. al. that encouraged just about any third worlder who wished to come here.

Von Braun and all his cohorts made it possible but we had the resources to pull it off! Truly a lofting achievement!

    https://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/Features/vonBraun/vonbraun_4.php

Von Braun and his team were transferred from the Army's control to NASA's when the National Aeronautics and Space Administration was established in 1958. Von Braun became director of NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) in Huntsville, which was dedicated on July 1, 1960. The von Braun team members were given a choice whether to go to NASA or stay with the Army Ballistic Missile Agency. All elected to be transferred to MSFC on this same date.

Von Braun's management style was to let everybody on the team know that they were important to its success and that any work they did was a reflection on the team. The result was that every team member did his best.

In 1944, 18 year olds stormed enemy beaches, parachuted behind enemy lines, and charged into enemy machine gun fire.

In 2018, 18 year olds need safe places, blankies, bubbles, coloring books, gun free zones, trophies for just being present and counseling for 'PSTD' caused by opposing views and offensive words.

What happened is the need for instant gratification caused in part of problems being solved in less than an hour on TV.

No one seemingly wants to take some time or hard work to obtain their desires. They want their desires NOW and FREE stuff provided by the government.

Just get a loan, Max out the credit card and INSTANTLY obtain candy for your brain and it costs only a few bucks a month, for the rest of your life or until you run out of credit.

BTW: This attitude with younger generations isn't only in the U.S. It manifests itself in countries with good economies and jobs.
