The new king of the hot peppers is Pepper X, 3.18 Million SU!

Thats hot

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4922654/Pepper-X-set-break-record-world-s-hottest-pepper.html

Per a video from First We Feast, Pepper X destroys the competition at around 3.18 Scoville units, although that number has yet to be officially confirmed as a world record. (That will probably happen in November, according to Currie.)

The pepper is also too dangerous to consume on its own, so it won't be sold in its hottest form. (Remember, even the Dragon's Breath is potentially deadly.) You can, however, try it in a new hot sauce called The Last Dab, created in conjunction with the First We Feast series "Hot Ones."

Too dangerous to consume on its own! Wow

If you want some sauce made from Pepper X here is where to get it:

It's $20 a bottle[:0]

    This pepper will kill you:

    The Dragons Breath Pepper

It is not as hot as Pepper X

    Dragons Breath:
    https://www.livescience.com/59184-how-dragons-breath-chili-peppers-can-kill.html

Death by chili pepper may not be a common way to die, but it's certainly a possibility for unlucky souls adventurous enough to try Dragon's Breath, the new hottest pepper in town.

Mike Smith, the owner of Tom Smith's Plants in the United Kingdom, developed the record-breaking pepper with researchers at the University of Nottingham. He doesn't recommend the pepper for eating, however, because it may be the last thing a person ever tastes.

So how exactly do hot peppers, such as Dragon's Breath, maim or kill those who try to eat them? Let's start with the pepper's spicy stats: Dragon's Breath is so spicy, it clocks in at 2.48 million heat units on the Scoville scale, a measurement of concentration of capsaicin, the chemical that releases that spicy-heat sensation people feel when they bite into a chili pepper. Dragon's Breath is hotter than the current record-holder, the Carolina Reaper, which packs an average of 1.6 million Scoville heat units, as well as U.S. military pepper sprays, which hit about 2 million on the Scoville scale, according to the Daily Post.

All the claims that eating 1(one) Chile pod will kill you are oversimplification.
A person would have to eat several to achieve the endorphin overload necessary for cardiac arrest.
Labored breathing and drowning in snot might contribute to one's demise, but if the natural tendency is to spit the pod out; about 15-20 minutes of agony ought to prevent any subsequent attempts.

I bet some are gullible enough to do shots of kerosene, if told that it contains "The World's Hottest Pepper".
