Can I legally ship a live M18 smoke grenades?

    Its not a smoke grenade; its a road flare/ signaling device. [;)]

    (never use the word grenade when shipping it BTW)

    Smoke products (signaling devices or whatever you want to call them) that have a pull-ring igniter (like those found on a grenade) are classified as HAZMAT by DOT, and shippers will charge a HAZMAT fee. The fee is around $35 per box, whether the box holds one or a dozen units. Products with standard fuses, such as those ignited with a match or a striker (road flare) do NOT require an additional HAZMAT fee.

    My opinion it's always better to Plead ignorance than ask permission, or Beg forgiveness than ask permission, or screw it, do it.

    Not sure if it applies to mailing a smoke grenade.
