not sure if they are just the ones that stand out in my mind. but I can remember three instances of folks being killed by dogs within 50 miles or so of me. which is not something you hear a lot of. all three were pit bulls. many years separated the incidents. but I guess I'm just anti pit bull. have no use for any large breed dogs around young children. just not worth the risk to me.

and two Dobermans use to chase me on my bike when I was a kid. so I was never a fan of those either. I guess I hold grudges.

Again,,and I get trashed for this, but ,all you people trashing the dog,,just replace it with GUN . that way you will sound just like the snowflakes..Now, not saying pittbulls dont attack,,I am sure they do,,but just like guns,,to the media every shooting is an AR-15 and every dog attack is a pittbull. If you read the description of the dog..or if possible see a pic,,most of the dogs may have some bull dog in them but not full pitt. this last mauling, police said dogs were skinny, she had not been feeding them proper,,they weighed around 120lbs,,,A HUGE PITT WEIGHS ABOUT 65/70 LBS.

I don't think its at all the same as a gun. a dog is a living breathing thing. it can cause harm without the help of a person. and does on numerous occasions.
and I was just pointing out that pit bull attacks are what I remember. a little kid was killed nearby several years ago. you tend to remember that stuff

collies are the most likely to bite but they nip and are done. Pit bulls get worked up and cant stop.

I remember all of that Doberman talk, and the urban myth was that their heads were bred too small for the brain, and it made them go crazy as they grew older.

I have first hand knowledge of two different German Shepherds that were happy loving dogs, that turned crazy mean and bit people at about five years of age. I had to pull the one dog off of our neighbor, and it wasn't my dog, It was my brothers girlfriends dog. I was lucky that I didn't get bit. [8]

[?]That was disturbing and baffling even to this day.

I remember a big Dobie, a garage had, when I delivered car parts. He liked me and when I went to walk right by him, he grabbed me like a little toy. I was fairly skinny and he had me by the side. I hauled off to slug him, but the owner was walking by.

My wife was almost killed by a German shepherd about 10 years ago. She was at an uncle's house in Kansas City. Her cousin owned the shepherd, a dog they had been trained to be a guard dog. It knew my wife, she had been there before, but it was outside in the rain and she decided to be nice and let it in the back door. It went on the attack and took her by the neck. The uncle got the dog to let go and she was rushed to the hospital. She still has a large scar on the right side of her neck, she's had some nerve damage there. Drs told her that if it had bit half an inch closer, she would have bleed out.
My family had 2 German Shepherds over the years and both were kind and gentle, because that's the way we raised them. This dog was raised differently. It was trained to be that way.

Not the dog, but the "training?" Surely that can not be the case.

Guns don't injure/maim/kill people,,, Dogs do,, except maybe a "weiner" dog. The "snappy Chewhuahua's" are a real sleeper.

My Dachshunds have never bitten a person...
But get them in the yard, and they'll hunt anything.
They were bred to hunt Badgers to the death.

My Roscoe (Bea-Jay is long gone) will hunt like there's no tomorrow.
He found a Cotton Tail out in the fringe of the back and took it out.
The wife was pissed. How could he kill such a pretty bunny?

I explained to her, that 'activity' was bred in to his being.

I know there's a tremendous difference between killing a 'bunny' and a child or adult.
But killing is still killing. Dogs will and can do that.
Training simply enhances that part of the dogs personality.

we Have had ( still have one ) German Shepard's all were great dogs the one we have now he is almost 11 years old weighs in 130 + pounds
even the vets comment on big he is , like a big teddy bear but being mostly black and has a aggressive bark he scares the crap out of people . biggest chicken / baby wife calls him a big teddy bear

we had a doberman many years ago she also was just as friendly as could be , we picked up a pound hound last year she has doberman mixed in but also has never even growled at any one, more loike everyone is a friend to her .

as for the the dachshunds we have two ( but owned several in the past ) the male would take on a pissed of elephant he is afraid of nothing and will start a fight with a cat or dog in a split second
thank goodness he is small the female is a tiny little gal
sweetest little dog but I have see her grab a duck and rip it open like a Christmas present they still retain they hunting / protect trade bread into them

Please, let's don't get off on "bunnies","parakeets", and "hamsters". next it will be "Pet cemeteries", "pet death counseling" which is the first step to "Libtardism".

Overseas they have "free pet cemeteries". This is on the beach. See your pet and breath fresh air.
