That movie gets me somehow. Is it based on a true story? Does anyone out there know??

Oh, yes, very much based on a true story. My grandfather was not too far away at the time, in the same battle.

Is that about the unit from Texas caught behind the lines that gets rescued by the The 442nd (unit comprised of Americans of Japanese ancestry) during WWII?

No, it's in WWI. A battalion of the 77th Infantry Division advances with an Allied offensive in the Argonne, and achives its objective line, but the units on its flanks cannot. It's surrounded by the Germans, and battered until it manages to regain contact with advancing friendly forces, after courageously holding in spite of very heavy casualties.

Great movie based on a true story. The real Army Officer played by Rick Shroeder committed suicide a few years after the war.

Good movie, even though it's got Ricky Shroeder in it. [:D]

Yeah that was my second time through it. Love that History Channel. They had commentary during the breaks and really brought home the movie.

Ricky S was so good I did not even realize it was him! Hard to miss with that much history and valor

An evil tree bears evil fruit. You can destroy as much fruit as you want, but it will always grow back, and it will always be evil.

Tear the tree out of the ground by the roots and burn it. Burn it to ash and grind out the embers with your boot until there's nothing left. Not a single spark. Not a single seed.
