been hearing and have seen several pass overs by jets this evening , they've been working back and worth across the valley , now I just heard on the news that Airforce 1 is due to land in LaCrosse Wi.( in a few hours )which is just 25 miles west of here, guess they are up there keeping the President safe [:D]

Theres been allot of activity up here in Maine as well Skyhawk. I've been seening formations of A-10 Warthogs, and fighter escorts, mainly F-16's and F-18's. This has been going on for like a few months now.

I had to laugh, the other day there was a solo prop plane just cruising around in the sky, I believe he was circling the area, probably scouting for good huntin spots, then all of a sudden three f-18's come flying in formation probably 200 feet above him, and they come speeding threw right behind him, and fly past him.

Just wondering how much each "visit" the president makes costs the taxpayers.

Fly overs are a common thing here, 20 miles as the crow flies to Camp Pendelton, about 50 to Miramar, 25 to March AFB... but I never tire of watching the different aircraft, fighters, C-130's, helo's of every sort, etc, etc, etc. The kids and I always go out to admire them when they fly over in the evenings.

I'm just a few miles west of Fort McCoy, we use to get a lot of fly overs from A10's when they where using the north impact range for practice but that has slowed way down, still get a few F16, and some C130,
I'll tell ya if you want to get the snot scared out of you just be in the woods logging when a pair of F16 come over at tree top level [:D]

I lived about two miles off the end of the runway in Virginia Beach (Oceana Naval Base ) for about 12 years, Can't say that I miss hearing f-16, f-18, a-10's occasional stealths, and the big cargo palnes.

I moved there just before the planes returned from the Gulf war in the early 90's. Seeing over 100 of those planes flying 200 feet over your house was impressive.

I never complained about the noise, I figured at least they were "ours". But I do not miss stopping conversations because of the jet noise.

The new f-18 superhornets are extremely loud.
