...but what would be your preferred weapon load-out for battling/escaping a hoard of zombies?

I know my preferred load-out has changed:

Primary
M249 SAW with about 2000 rounds, preferably on one belt so I don't have to reload.
m249-short-saw.gif

Secondary
P90 with about 300 rounds ready-loaded in magazines.
fn_p90_1.jpg

Sniping
M14 with a 3-12x50 scope and 320 rounds loaded in 20-round mags.
m14_fullshot_withclip_785width.jpg

Close-range
Benelli M4 Super 90 with minimum 200 rounds of 00 buck shot.

SPAS with the hook with 1000 rounds half slugs half 000 Buck if they need to be shot in head with slugs got some reach with buck close up to medium range don't have to worry about aim as much SPAS semi and pump best of both world oh and maybe a box or two of those incendeary rounds to blow stuff up with

    Depends on the zombie.

Lets say the zombies act like they did in 'Night of the living dead" they lumber around slowly. I would take the (1st)Super 90, or the (2nd)P90

Now lets say they move like on 'Dawn of the dead' they move swift and fast. M249 without second thought.

Now if I found myself in a fortified building with enough supplies to last for a long time. I would say the M14 for fun.[}:)]

2000 rounds in one belt? Thats going to be mighty heavy.

Thats a tough call. How big a hoard? Anyway, I'll take an American 180 with 15 177 round mags loaded with 22LR silver bullets.

I will also need a big silver cross on a pimp type chain anound my neck and a crown of garlic.

If I were far enough away, I'd use one of these:

Remember zombies not vampires or warewolves.

Don't know it might be more fun to run over them with that, while someone mans the gun on top.

    Honestly, I think I would take either a Benelli M4 12 gauge or a scoped Marlin 336 .30-.30.

Why? Because you can easily reload them on the fly. No loading magazines, just stick the ammo in there between shots.

When fighting zombies, they seem to come in waves. You never know when you might come upon a warehouse full of 80 zombies. You have to be ready to throw out some lead in a hurry and be able to reload quickly.

An argument could be made for the SKS as well. Maybe a Norinco Paratrooper with one of the 20 round fixed mags that actually works.

Have you ever held or shot one? Very poor shotgun choice, I would talk a Mossberg 500 over this any day. The SPAS is heavy, picky about ammo in semi auto, too many controls that have to be in the right place to load or fire. It DOES look really cool though. I have one and it is a neat toy at best. I would pick any Benelli M series, if you want semi/pump the M3 does it or I would pic a Tromix. I currently only have 10rd mags, but have a 20rd drum coming.

A Davy Crockett. The one with the 40mm spotter rifle, and the very small nuclear warhead. Only use I have ever been able to find for a manportable nuclear recoiless rifle that has a MAX range of 5,000 meters.

That is the one. I could not see spending $300 + on the other one.

What truck are you going to tote that 2000 rounds with. Either that or you're going to be a slow moving target.

For my main weapon I don't think you could go wrong with an AK because of it's reliability. Plenty of stopping power too, plus with today's add ons you could have grips/red dots/ etc... For my handgun I would generally go with my 1911, but only having 7 rounds is a bit of a concern. So I might swap out my FN 5.7 since I'll have 20 rounds per clip, no recoil, and that thing is laser accurate. No night sights, but I can mount a light on the rai. My shotgun would be something like a Winchester 1300 Defender (short barrel, extended tube). That way it would be easier to manuever with through abonded buildings, burning cities, etc... Finally for sniping I would just stick with a solid bolt rifle. You'll be far enough away and hopefully elevated from the zombies, plus it's not like you'll be short of targets so I don't think semi-auto would be a must. But, having twenty rounds in your long range rifle is nice, especially if you are over run and need to reload quick.

for both close to medium range i want a Marlin 1894 lever gun stoked with 10 rounds of 44magnum 240 grain hollow points, topped with a Leupold 1-4 shotgun scope with heavy duplex reticle. You must shoot a zombie in the head to kill it so i prefer the 44mag for this task, and as a back up i would carry a picture of Rosie O'Donnell, at close range this would eliminate any appetite a zombie would have for human flesh[xx(]
