My Dad, affectionately known as "The Big Dog", had a stress test scheduled this morning at 8:oo. I got a call at the office from my Dad's cardiologist's nurse, at about 9, she begins by saying, "Now, your Dad's alright...."
I'm thinking "Oh no...."
Apparently, during the test, he had a cardio episode, a fibrilation, v fibrilation, I'm not sure which. He resolved it himself without drugs, and he wanted to drive himself home, however they transported by ambulance him to Rochester General for further tests. As I type this, he is having an angiogram.
I suppose, if he was going to have a cardio episode, he did it in the right place.
I spoke to him on the phone before the transport, and he sounded normal, he was concerned about who was going to pick my son up from school, and who was going to feed his cat.
My sister works at Roch General, in the cardiology dept., so she is with him, and will contact me as soon as the results are available. She stated that the results will determine a plan of action, perhaps a stent, or a defibrilator, we just don't know right now.
Anyhow, please have a good thought, a well-wish, or a prayer for an old sailor, a wonderful grandpa, and a great dad.

Take care, and I believe you have my phone number if you want to talk.......
It's great to have someone in the business with him.
He'll get the VIP treatment.
Keep us posted.
Praying for a complete healing...

My sister called and said that the angiogram showed that Dad has a 40-50% blockage in one of the main arteries going out of his heart, which could mean open-heart surgury. However, they are not certain at this point that that is what's causing the arythmia, so tomorrow they are bringing in some doctor who specializes in electrical impulses, who is going to evaluate the results of the stress test, and based on that, he may perform a test which will put my Dad back into an arythmia, and based on the results of that test, they may decide that he needs a defibrillator implanted, or they may decide that he just needs to up his beta-blockers.
So, at this point, we are either looking at the range from bypass surgury to increasing meds he is already taking.
I spoke to Dad from his hospital bed. He sounds great, a little cranky, apologetic for "being a bother", but otherwise in good spirits.
I let him know that he has a lot of folks sending him their prayers and best wishes, and he wanted me to tell you "thanks".
Thanks from me, too, folks!
Right now, I'm going to finish a glass of wine, and go to bed. It's been a long day.
Again many thanks from me and mine. Will keep you posted....
OOps...
