HAIRY, I cannot debate this with you anymore, you must start to belive, it's really gonna suck if you don't. I feel bad for you[:(]
, just take out the bible once a month and read it, at least[:)]

You say there is no God, but just look at the complexity of creatures, even the complexity of a cow for instace. Study them and tell me they "Evolved".

Next off if you would open your eyes you would see God and Jesus all around you, look how he has blessed you, with nice guns, heath, and oviously a computer.

That makes our father very sad when you doubt he is even there.[:(][:(][:(]

In case you haven't noticed, there is a numerological progression between the disparity of horizon in centimeters on either side of the figure of the Mona Lisa, the time in seconds between the first and third shots from Oswald's Carcano and the sum of the last two digits of the ID numbers painted on those five Navy TBMs that got lost over the Bermuda Triangle in 1945. If you then square that progression and add seven, you get 666. Coincidence? I think not.

Damn the math, I got 12. Don

    You made a simple error;
Move the decimal point in the second equation on numeral to the left.

Ron made the mistake of trying to adhere to the book.

It would have been better to fictionalize the book, or do it in two parts.

    Even better, a made-for-TV Mini-series.

Personally, I'm getting a kick out of how many of the local churches are using the movie to put some butts in the seats of their own churches.
"Come to Sunday service, brothers and sisters, and hear about the REAL reason why "The DaVinci Code" is the work of Satan. All are welcome..."

I'll bet they just love it when a movie like this comes out......

    CHA-CHING!

When YOU attend YOUR church do you stand there and say CHA-CHING? Or are you another one of the folks that; knew someone, who met someone, who was related by marriage...who once walked by a church...

Please, if you know nothing, keep it to yourself

I started reading the book around 10:30, it's now 4:15. On page 324 I finally got to a "stopping place"

I can't imagine anyone reading the book not understanding that it is a ficticious novel; I really don't get all the fuss about the movie causing a questioning of faith.
I used to recruit for the NRA until they sold us down the river (again!) in Heller v. DC. See my auctions (if any) under username henryreilly

I read the book last year when everyone in the world was reading it. I thought that it was average at best and boring at worst. The book sold 65 million copies and the movie grossed $229 million in its first 3 days so other people must see it differently than I do.

Actually, I was raised Roman Catholic, and attended parochial schools kindergarten through 8th grade. Attended mass every school day, Sunday, and holy day of obligation til I moved out of my parents house...
I would venture to guess that I have had more "seat time" in a church than most posters.
Who are you kidding? It is about the money, a church is a business, which depends on the charitability of it's followers. Why do you think they pass the collection plate, or sell raffle tickets, or have bingo?
My church essentially "kicked me out" because of my divorce, however, they still send me a box of those little envelopes, and the raffle tickets that they want me to sell, every year.

So lets see...8th grade education, some of which you must have hated, and your failed personal relationships make all church groups bad, money grubbing, "seat time forcing" pits of doom. I think that you, like the famous "Deacon HAIRY", simply choose to hate religion for your own reasons...reasons that have to do with the people you encountered in your brief "seat time", and nothing what-so-ever to do with GOD. That's too bad.

    WRONG!
Actually, unlike many former Catholics. I have wonderful memories of my upbringing, of the nuns, the ceremonies and rituals, all of which I cherish. I understand that the church has rules to which they must adhere, many of which I cannot comprehend, regarding divorce.

As far as religions in general, I have no animosity. I have seen both sides of the coin. I've seen persons of faith use their faith to guide them through very difficult times on several occasions, and that is what faith is supposed to do. I've also known person of "faith" use their belief to excuse the most abominable behavior.

But I also belive that you are kidding yourself if you don't think that a church, any church in Judeo-Christian philosophy, is business first and foremost. It's all in the marketing, creating a product that is somehow unique, telling the consumer that they "need" this product, that they will somehow be better off than the Jones' down the block if they buy it, and that they cannot live, or die, without it.
I simply choose not to buy.
