To Counter Lies In `The Da Vinci Code' Movie
Dear Hairy You Need This Video!
May 8, 2006 -Even Christians are being deluded into thinking "The Da Vinci Code" is factual. You need this video to share with both non-Christian and Christian friends and family.
More than 3,000 theaters will begin showing "The Da Vinci Code" on May 19. The best-selling book by Dan Brown and now the movie version, are filled with lies about the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
To counter these lies, Dr. D. James Kennedy, pastor of Coral Ridge Ministry, has produced a fact-filled video, "The Da Vinci Delusion," to counter the false statements made about Jesus in Brown's book.
TVC is offering "The Da Vinci Delusion" for sale to its supporters for $25, which includes shipping and handling in either DVD or VHS.

Get your copy of "The Da Vinci Delusion," today so you will have the knowledge to counter the misinformation about Jesus in "The Da Vinci Code" book and film.
Dan Brown makes numerous false and historically unsupportable claims about Jesus and about the Bible as God's Word. He claims that Jesus was married to Mary Magdalene and had a daughter. He claims that the Roman Emperor Constantine promoted the idea that Jesus was God's Son and that Constantine considered more than 80 different gospel books before settling on Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Brown also claims that these facts have been suppressed by the Catholic Church, but that Da Vinci hid this hidden history in his paintings of Mona Lisa and The Last Supper.
Many people who have read The Da Vinci Code think it is actually a fact-based history. A survey of Canadians conducted by National Geographic in 2005 found that one-third of those polled who read Brown's book think Jesus has descendants who are alive today!
This book could shake the faith of new Christians and even long-time Christians and make them think the Bible is not true.

Now that would be a miracle.
Bruce Dern spoke of being assualted by old ladies in grocery stores after he killed John Wayne in "The Cowboys." Some people think movies are real and that's the way it is.
Too old to live...too young to die...
Remember all the publicity the Last Temptation of Christ got from all the opposition.

I remember reading about that. Some folks seem to have a hard time distinguishing Hollywood from reality, including a few little old ladies. [;)]
It's poorly written, with a rather lame and totally unbelieveable plot (the only other work of fiction I've seen like this that was possibly more lame and unbelieveable was "The Order") and the only reason it's fameous is because it raises a bunch of people's tempers in public. In a sense, this book is a lot like Marylin Manson: sucks, no talent and only fameous because of the shock/annoyance factor.
Seriuosly, the people who this story as some kind of historical work need to get a very large hammer and beat their college/high school history professors and then turn the hammer on themselves.
FWIW, I don't really care. I've not read the DaVinci Code, and have little desire to do so -- not because of any heresy, but rather, the topic seems a tad dull.
I agree with the assertion that the worst thing that churches can do is recommend that people not see the movie. FWIW, I think they should be encouraging people to see the movie, and then invite them to attend church to learn the Truth.
My church is doing a whole sermon series on the DaVinci Code, and explaining why passages are false and why Biblical passages are true.

spanielsells: Your suggestion will never happen--too much common sense. [:D]
Sort of like how Farenheit 9/11 did so much better than it should. It was truly a loser film packed with lies and distortions of the truth, but because it got so much negative publicity, it did very well (that compounded with Michael "Two Cheeseburgers" Moore being a media darling and getting a bunch of free press for (surprise) slamming Bush).
Anyone would be a fool to believe a book that was edited and written by Kings to subdue their subjects.
I enjoy reading fiction and novels...one of them is the bible.[^]

You're always entitled to your opinion. You'll find out in the end if you're right or wrong, of course. Good luck with that.

Yeah, right back at ya' pal.
I believe him thar' Jeebus.. Hey Zeus.. or that Jesus fella' to be the worlds first magician.
He pulled off a few magictricks - and 2000 years later - people still believe in him.
That's gotta beat even David Copperfield.. [:)]
Believing is one thing, it does'nt hold much weight.
The people worth considering are the ones who know Him.
(the ones that are'nt nuts or frauds that is)
I may be going to see this film with a friend and hopefully he will see what a major deception is being foisted on people who should ... but do not know any better.
People SAY it is fiction, but still use it to try to put down Jesus, the Bible and the Church. You've gotta be kidding me!
It is so easily refuted that anyone can see that the whole thing is rediculous! This too will pass but the Word of God will live on for ever! May God bless y'al real good!
how much of that goes to god?
The question is not how much of that goes to God but how much goes to continue Gods' work.
Mister Brown and others selling the Da Vinci Code insist on having it both ways. When anybody makes derogatory statements about the Da Vinci Code, they are quick to point out "It's only fiction", while at the same time making claims about how well researched and factual it is.

You've got it RIGHT on this one: Mister Brown and others selling the Da Vinci Code insist on having it both ways!
It does tell a lot about our culture! It is a message that people WANT to hear! Facts ... right! [}:)][}:)][}:)][}:)][}:)][}:)][}:)]
$25 for a VHS or a DVD? Sounds like the Coral Ridge Ministry is more interested in using this controversy to bilk money from the stupid and gullible to line their own pockets with. How does this make them different from Hollywood again? The word of Jesus sure is expensive nowadays, I guess that's why all those televangelists have private jets and these preachers drive really nice cars.
I dont know what your over head is when you produce, package and ship your vids, but for even a large church I assume its expensive.
How exactly did you calculate their profit margin?
I'm currently listening to an audiobook of it during my commute. I'm about 6 hours into the 17-hour stack of CDs. I am looking up the art history and so forth that I don't know about as I go, and learning a lot. For instance, in the book the characters claim that "Mona Lisa" is an anagram of "Amon L'isa" or some such pair of Egyptian god and goddess of fertility, while in reality the name of the painting never came up as Mona Lisa until decades after Leonardo's death, not to mention that Leonardo apparently flat-out didn't name his paintings, and neither did anyone else in his time.
I do recommend the audiobook over the printed copy. What would be painful to read due to excessive repetition, bad metaphor, and predictability is much more palatable when it is read to you while driving rather than assaulting your eyes when you have no distractions.
I am making a game of it. First off, predict the metaphors. Second, speak along with the reader when a statement is repeated and see how close you can guess the wording. [:P]
I do find the book enjoyable. If you ignore any ties into the factual world around you, it is a good story and it is told reasonably well (although it is by no means a literary masterpiece). I don't know about the millions of crazy people out there, but I like my fictional novels to be mostly false.
I keep wanting to play the "fictional characters" scene from Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back to anyone who tries to treat a novel like it's reality, whether that novel is The Da Vinci Code, Harry Potter, Left Behind, Star Wars, or The Handmaid's Tale.
