An exhibit at Arlington National Cemetery features portraits of
American soldiers who died in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Hats off. Moment of silence. Remember the fallen.

I've been there a few times.
You just ... stop thinking. The crosses go on over hills, they just keep going.

It is a relatively quiet place, with no crowds (for Washington) except for a memorial (and maybe a few other places, but it is spread out). A few older solemn people, a few very young couples, and a few in-between.

Arlington National Cemetery, including the Vietnam wall and the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, is one of those things you just have to see sometime in your life. This is one of those places where pictures and words are both worthless, and only actually being there conveys even an iota of the meaning.
