I don't think a helmet would have made much of a difference

    Great reporting.

Man's body severed at waist during fatal motorcycle accident, and the reporter finds it important to note that the victim was not wearing a helmet.

I wonder if his socks matched.
Freedom and a submissive populace cannot co-exist.

A co-worker chased a motorcycle and the same thing happened when he lost control and hit a stop sign post sideways through the air. Sliced him in two. He was wearing a helmet, but it didn't help. [;)]

I love Harley motorcycles and won't own anything else, BUT a Harley is not a bike you run from the cops on!! If you want to run from the cops get a Hyabusa.

Well, with a full face, it might have been open-casket. Instead, it was a fool face.

Doesn't matter what bike it is, most folks that run from the police ride way above their ability and it only takes one bobble and they are pavement pizza.

True but a Harley doesnt give you a sporting chance. Average Harley does what, 120mph and it takes awhile to get there. If you can hold a bike in a straight line a Hyabusa or similar will give you somewhat of a chance. One could always just "man up" and take the ticket, I'm sure jail time and fines are much higher when you add all the charges, a ticket is cheaper.

State law probably requires an autopsy because it was not a natural death. Investigation to determine if the pursuit was with in policy, and gather relevant facts including alcohol or drug use, and prepare for potential civil litigation.

Hitting a utility pole support cable at a high rate of speed........ Yuup, that's a natural way to die.

I'm just surprised the tractor he was riding was able to get up that much speed. Must have been going down-hill with the wind at his back...

Helmets make the difference between an open casket and a closed casket.

Although always described as a cowboy, Roswellnative generally acts as a righter of wrongs or bodyguard of some sort, where he excels thanks to his resourcefulness and incredible gun prowesses.

One of our guys stumbled upon a fatal (decapitation) motorcycle crash. It was early in the AM and no one called it in. He told dispatch it was a decapitation and she asked if he needed the medics. He responded "No, but I will take a coroner"

Obviously all motor cycle riders should be required by law to wear a cup to prevent this from happening in the future! [;)]

Interesting that this article found it's way here. I met this man last week at the dealership. I even rode his Road King to appraise it for trade in on a truck. Turned out he just couldn't sell his Harley. My assistant manager rolled up on the scene of the accident just after it occurred. Seems he was cut in half at the waist and also lost his head and an arm in the deal. Old "Oklahoma" made a series of bad decisions that night. And his choices caught up with him.

He did have a helmet on. His head was still in it laying in the street. Legs on the sidewalk, arm and shoulder up against the gutter. My friend says he thinks the torso must have went into the bushes. He didn't see when he got there. The bike was a 2010 Road King with a 103 in it. Previous owner is a tech at our local Harley dealer. The bike had plenty of torque. My friend heard him hit fourth gear and twisting hard of the throttle just before the impact. I'm sure he was going well over 100. Now for the big shock, he had been sitting in the saloon all day and got in an argument with his wife and took off all drunk and pissed off. I guess he lost the argument in the end.

I always ride in full gear; boots leathers with armor, full face helmet.

I still support the individual liberty to do water you want.

    Alcohol & motorcycles dont mix.
Running from the police is foolish.

You punch your ticket, you take your ride.

I'm guessing it's not the first bad decision this guy had made on a bike.

My HD is fast but there ain't no way it can outrun a radio. Stand a better change in my truck if I can get to dirt.
