Well there is that other auction site, today I paid about 1/3 of what Sears wanted for a replacement part.

I think a lot of stuff must fall off the back of trucks at that place.

I had to go to 6 ply tires on my JD.

Goat-heads (weeds) kept putting a hole in the tires. Got tired of Slimeing the tires, so I went to 6 ply. Not cheap, but no more goat-head holes.

It's take 5 years to finally get rid of almost all the goat-heads.

You can't always bet the John Deer will be the highest price. My dealer sells oil filters cheaper than my local auto parts store and Lowes. Try a repair shop and see if they have a junk mower in their trash pile with a good tire.

Ther is a local small engine shop down the road. I'll stop by there tomorrow.

I thought you were talking about a tractor tire that we used to make sandboxes and flower beds out of!

Beeramid, these are 20x10-8 Turf Saver tires. They are on a Craftsman rider, with a hydrostatic trans. If you think they will work give me a holla, you can have tires and wheels or the whole damn thing. Kohler engine is good, bad transmission is why it's parked.

Well I appreciate the generosity, but the rims on mine are 8". I bet it'd be easy to get em' on the rim! What size kohler is on your craftsman? I just read some things the other day about problems and fixes with the hydrostatic trans + kohler combo.

The only tires I've seen here are carlisle, I think they are all chinese made.

I had a left front on my JD that kept going down, not sure if it was the bead or the weld on the rim. New tire and stem from my tire guy did not fix it. It would go down suddenly out on the "back 40" and get tight. Almost went in the creek one day when it refused to turn at speed and I look down and the tire is flat and off the bead. Got a new (used) tire/wheel combo on fleabay for $25, no more problem.

That's what mine is, only the brand is Scotts which was contracted to JD. This might be helpful if you are inclined to work on things. The info is kind of spread out, but it may be helpful. The trans is made by tuff torque, model K51. I'm just guessing yours is the same.

20x7x8 ATV tires work great on a lawn tractor that uses 20x8x8 tires. They last much longer and offer far better traction than Turf Savers.

    Kenda Scorpion 20x7x8 = $40.00

    Duro Knobby 20x7x8 = $35.00

All of my mowers uses a 23x10x12 on the rear and they will be replaced with 24x8 or 10x12 ATV tires when the time comes for a new set. You want to look at expensive tires. Check out some of the higher end ATV/UTV tires. I replaced a set on the ole ladies quad and they cost more than new tires for the car.
