[:D] I keep knocking on the door and the dogs go crazy. They come out to the living room and I say, trick or treat, and steal a piece of candy[:p]Almond joys and Reese peanut butter cups[:p][:p][:p] No kids will show up anyway and she bought five bags of candy. All the kids have grown up and moved away. They stopped coming around years ago. We might get one or two a year. I take the candy to work for the guys and girls in the office. How many kids do you all get and what are the treats??????

We goth three kids. The last little girl, I dumped the whole bowl of almond joy in her bag. [^]

We are in the same boat here, Oakie. The kids here are grown up. I think it has been 2 or 3 years since we got any Trick or Treaters.

The wife buys 3 or 4 bags of candy just in case. If kids do show up, I give them a bit handful of candy.

Our street most of the kids have gone off to college. Although we did have a few turnovers up the hill this summer. So we may have a few. Back in the day we had a lot and all the parents in the cul-de-sac would have a party out in the street so the kids did not have to hike up the driveways to the house.

    We've never had them here.

When the kids were little, we used to have a bunch of us that would all bring chili and add it to a turkey frying pot at a neighbors house, the. Put hay in a cattle trailer and driver the kids house to house on a 3/4 mile long dirt road that a lot of the families lived on. Then all go back and eat.

Nobody comes here even in daylight and certainly not after dark.
I bought a machete last week and as the girl was ringing it up, I commented I needed a new machete before Halloween. Her eyes got big and she said "Oh my".

We used to get between eight and twenty every year, but the kids have grown up and moved away and the few that are left go to one or more of the sponsored events in town.

We bought a pack of candy bars just in case but it will be here Tuesday.
The road to hell is paved with COMPROMISE.

Try getting the bags of Tootsie Roll minis. There are like 480 in a bag for $7-8. Handing a couple to each kid keeps everyone happy...and out of the poorhouse. [^]

Last road north in the village....across the street acres, of corn still standing. So either the kids are too lazy to walk this way, or the corn blowing in the wind on Halloween night scares the hell out of them.

Or it could be the chili that we make on Halloween keeps them away..

I gotta go count the candy....

We live waaay out in he country, so never any kids, but the wife has a store in town. Every year on the Saturday before, the Highway Patrol closes Main St and there is a parade and then the kids go to all the shops up and down the street, for candy. The little kids in their costumes are so cute. it's a really big treat for everyone

I got a big bowl of candy. They wear me and the dogs out answering the door. I love it. When I run out, I shut off the outside lights, and they don't come around any more.I love having the little kids in their costumes come around, all happy and having a great time. I love to be able to give them a little something, to make their Halloween special. I wish I could afford a thousand dollars in candy for them.I can't, so I do what I can afford.I get a lot of pleasure from it. The dogs? Not so much. They think every four year old child is an intruder!

    Peace

I bought a new little home on the far NW side of Indy when I got out of the army in '65. I had a lot of kids come by as the area became populated. I even gave out beer to the moms & dads. I moved 20 miles west of Indy on a few acres in '82 and never had anyone come by to this day.
It's too late for me, save yourself.

Not too many here, maybe 30-40 and that was way up from past years

Perverts and sick child mo;esters ruined Halloween a while ago- you know them -they are the demonrats. NAMBLA [future KIA's] supports killary.
Halloween was great when we grew up in the 50-60's We'd trick or treat till 9-930p in our old Newark NJ neighborhood [try that now and you'd be KIA by obozos sons]
My kids had good trick or treat time in the 80-early 90's but we were in a area [jersey shore] with a ton of families with kids and our neighborhood watch was strong. it's a shame how scum ruins everything with the total blessing and aid of the filthy demonrats

We usually get several but not a lot. This year the wife bought the candy (I normally pick it out) and she came home with enough for the next 4 years [:0]

Have not had a trick or treater for mabe 10 years. If by chance one shows up I would just give a quarter. They can buy the candy that they prefer.

The last year we lived in Jasper, TN back in 1997 my wife counted 312 trick or treaters we had that year. We lived at the bottom of Monteagle Mountain and those people back upon the mountain would bring the kids by the hay wagon load to our subdivision. My wife and youngest son always looked forward to decorating the house and yard for Halloween. We never had any thing bad to happen. Those people were nice people and their kids were well behaved.

this will be my 16th Halloween at this house, I have never had a trick or treater. I didn't even buy candy for it this year. I have a bag of quarters on the counter, if anyone shows up I'll just pitch a couple of quarters in their bag.

My ex is taking our 10 year old trick or treating tonight, I told him I get all the chocolate. Of course I tell him that every year, it's yet to work.

We get none around here. Too far out in the country. However, for those who want to participate we set up a "trunk or treat" down by the mailboxes. From 6 to 7 those who want to give out treats turn up and hand out treats to the kid from the valley. It's a great way for us neighbors to get together, and the kids don't feel left out on Halloween.

Haven't been in the U.S.for Haloween for 15 years.

The country custom is for entire families to dress up and walk around the town central park and get candy. Most don't ask, if you like their costume, give them a treat.

City provides music, entertainment, tents and lots of local food and drink vendors have set up kiosks , wagons, trailers etc.

Even the dogs dress up,, with help I'd assume. Photo taken 2007.
    halloween02.jpg

Like this place because the first time visited, it reminded me of the Rural Town I grew up in 60 years ago. Except TV, Cells, and internet.

Need to buy some candy and head to the park,, the normal park is being "remodeled" and need to find out if/where the festivities are located.

44 years ago when I moved into this neighborhood there were a lot of kids but they have grown up, moved away and their parents have died. A few show up and I give them an apple. This is a really big deal for the young ones and I enjoy it.
