Once a bid meets the reserve price then the BIN goes away. A lot of folks don't realize that and probably bid it too close the BIN and then it disappears and a bidding war starts.

I've been to auctions when gun stores were going out of business &
watched almost all the guns go for more than the regular retail price.
There's not much of a cure for stupid. That's the biggest problem with democracy.

GB is a little different but yes, the 15 minute rule enters into it. On a brand X auction a couple of years ago I listed a Corvette for sale with a BIN of like $17K. I started it with about $12K. Once a bid was placed this auction's policy is to remove the BIN. As the bids came in and the price rose I had folks offering what they new was the BIN even though that was no longer an option. Man did they get mad when I said sorry. It ended up selling for about $23K.
It's too late for me, save yourself.

I have had people bid over the BIN price on almost every gun I put up on different sites. I won't complain. I think they get into that, I can't lose mentality, and will bid whatever it takes to win. Kinda like addictive gambling.
