Pancakes or Crepes ??

I don't really care for pancakes, unless they are real thin and about 6" or so in diameter. The wifey whipped up a batch of crepes for dinner, plain old crepes with a hit of log cabin syrup. Not to bad with some crunchy bacon and a couple eggs, and a big ol' glass of cold milk to wash it down. Which do you prefer ?

if you use a GOOD pancake mix like Robby's your pancakes are nice and light.

Heavy pancakes the size of dinner plates suck IMHO

    EITHER with strawberries or blueberries.

But NONE of that crappy fake syurp (Aunt Jamama, Log Cabin, Mrs Butterworths, etc.).

    Gotta be:

    Honey
    Molassas
    Cane syrup
    Maple syrup

    ACCEPT NO SUBSTITUTES.

    +1

locally made PA maple syrup, must be made over a wood fire (not LP gas).

I'll eat 'em dry with just a little butter before I'd put that fake poop on them

I like really thick pancakes layered with frosting in between the layers and all over the top and sides, sometimes adorned with a greeting and occasionally adorned with candles.

    Whip 3 eggs together.
Add one beer (33-35cl), and add milk untill you have 0.6 litres of fluid in total (beer+milk=0.6Litres)
    300 grams of flour
1? teaspoon of salt, plus one teaspoon vanilla-sugar.
    50grams of margerine

All of the above is mixed together, except the margerine.

When you have mised it all together, melt the margerine on the frying pan - and add to the dough just before you bake the pancakes.

For each pancake - use 0.1 litre (one decilitre), and bake until light brown colour at the circumference.

Bake a whole lot - stackem... and have at it with syrup, marmelade, icecream.
Forget the butter-thing - that just ruins a good pancake.

Crepes are best - they can be sweet or savory, Fruity or Meaty, Hot or cold. Much wider spectrum of delectation for me.

It's not even apples and oranges, it's apples and teacups. It's like saying, do you prefer pancakes or tomato juice. They're two totally different things. Different preparation, different batter consistency and mix, diferent serving methods, different end textures.

I like both. Pancakes served with real maple syrup, butter, and a little powdered sugar; crepes stuffed with nutella or stawberries adn whipped cream OR with ham, cheese, and a little dijon mustard.

    Maybe :

    Whip 3 eggs together.
In a measuring cup -- pour one beer (33-35cl), and add milk until you have 21 ounces of fluid in total (beer+milk=21 ounces).
    0,66 lbs of flour
1? teaspoon of salt, plus one teaspoon vanilla-sugar.
    .11 lbs of margerine

All of the above is mixed together, except the margerine.

When you have mised it all together, melt the margerine on the frying pan - and add to the dough just before you bake the pancakes.

For each pancake - use 3,4 ounce (one decilitre), and bake until light brown colour at the circumference.

Bake a whole lot - stackem... and have at it with syrup, marmelade, icecream.
Forget the butter-thing - that just ruins a good pancake.

Try Swedish Crepes with an order of bacon or sausage at IHOP.
Thin pancakes are favored over doughy thick pancakes here.
Chuck your Aunt Jemima syrup and spring for genuine maple syrup, any color or quality. You'll be glad you did.

It is french toast or waffles for me. Pancakes are for bulk production at church or service organization fundraisers.[:)]
