What would it have been like if you married this one or that one or the other one.

Never got out of the military after 10 years.

Went to this job instead of going to another job that you were offered.

Yes, there is one woman that got away, and I will always wonder what could have been and wish it had been.

Yes, except getting out of the military. I ran for the door.
I was discharged from the hospital and was sent to the Marine base to pick up my personal items that were sent from Viet Nam. As I took my sea bag out of a locker, dust fell off of it. I was in the hospital for 6 months. A black corporal gave me hell for getting the floor dirty and made me get a paper towel to clean it up. Yeah, I love being screwed with. I cleaned it up and took a first class air ticket home just to be gone that day.

I think of the little things that changed my life forever.

I was invited to a party back in the 60s by some friends. I thought about not going but at the last minute decided to go. Lo and behold there she was, the young girl that I would spend the rest of my life with. If I had decided not to go where would I be today I've often wondered?

Then there's the time we made a wrong turn while house hunting only to find a house like we had been looking for at almost half the price of other houses we had looked at.

It seems to be the little things that turned out to be big things that have determined my life's path.

Something as simple as a bee sting could change the world.

I wonder at times "what if" Uncle Sam hadn't taken 2 yrs of my life away from minor league baseball what might have been ?? But I did come away with memories of pitching to Pete Rose, Hank Aaron and a few other less notables.........even if it was only spring training games [:D]. No regrets, life has been good [;)]

of course , I think everyone does .
however what could have been may never have been any way ,
same with everything in life if you look back on what now seems like a lucky break a chance meeting being in the right or wrong place at that given time .
I can say after all theses years together I feel lucky a chance meeting ended up with me having great wife of 37 years . ( no one else would have stuck it out [:D][:D] )
