I hate ebay - or ebay sellers

theres a car seller on the bay that lists some auctions at $1 and no reserve but if price doesn't meet his gotta have price he cancels auctions at the last minute and realists car at no reserve with his gotta have price as the starting price. I lodged a complaint but a lotta good that'll do me.

this particular seller runs 40 classic type cars at a time and pulls this stunt on 10 or so at any given time.

I've won 2 of his cars only to be told he was "sorry" but he couldn't sell it at the final bid.price. is that they definition of *? (or just a used car salesman, lol)

I cannot see eBay tolerating this part since eBay is losing their percentage of the selling price.

I would hope the bay takes that nonsense as seriously as GB does. I can promise you that if some clown pulled a stunt like that here, he would be down the road.

.....And the question I always ask. Why do you continue to use them?

I canceled my ebay & pay pal account years ago yet my life goes on pretty happy and fulfilled.

I buy off fleabay on regular basis, I guess I have been lucky. Waiting on an Aimpoint PRO to be delivered this afternoon. First time seller with lots of buyer feedback. Sends me a note asking why my payment is held for six days pending feedback. So apparently paypal holds payment until the buyer leaves feedback or for six days. I kinda like that, helps protect the buyer from getting counterfeit items.

They do that with new sellers. Once a new seller gets some feedbacks that hold part is released.

Yep, you need to report him or he will screw someone else. EBay runs a tight ship and will dump the guy.

If you actually won the auction as in it completed before he closed it , by the law there your cars , if he chose to close the auction before the end then I would never bid on aby thing of his and do like you except I would call flebay with all the examples not just email them .
I have won a couple item where they sold too cheap , the seller refunded my money and that's all they needed to do to please e-bay and give some BS reason why they could not ship

I have purchased numerous vehicles off fleabay thru the years. One guy in Louisiana sold me a pickup .. a no reserve auction.. and refused to sell it. He was a auto dealer. I contacted him by phone and he said he would not sell it to me, sent me an email saying so. I won the auction. So, I told him I was coming to get it. He did not respond. I got on a greyhound and went to his town. Got off the bus and the dealership was about 1 mile away. A Police car was going by.. I flagged the officer down and ask him where the dealership was.. he said..get in I will take you there. When I got out and thanked him for the ride, I ask him to hang around.. showed the auction paperwork and such to him. He said he would just sit in the car outside the dealership. I went up to the place and the seller almost lost it. I have the money and want the truck. He squirmed for a couple of minutes and sold it to me. Put a dealer tag on it and I waved at the officer on the way out. If he would have refused the sale, I would have gotten an incident report of a no sale. Been back for court later. Dealer knew the ropes. I advised him next time sell a car with a reserve and not at 8 am in the morning.

If he pulls that stunt on the wrong person they might find this * at the bottom of a lake in his classic car one day. Some people take contracts serious.

I'm afraid as much as I dislike about them, I have saved a lot of time and money finding things I needed there. Even sold a few things I didn't need. I have over 400 feedbacks but a lot more that weren't posted. I have had maybe 4-5 bad experiences with sellers that weren't settled fairly.
But if I had won two vehicles and got stiffed, I would be raising hell
until somebodies eyes were bleeding. You damn straight.[}:)]

I found it humorous that he was mad at me for it!! Dude don't know what to tell you I paid you thru paypal, contact them!

Now PayPal pays for my purchase right away, but does not charge my account for 14 days. I didn't ask them to do that, just started doing it a few weeks ago. So I get the item before I pay for it, I guess in case there is a problem. ?

Probably so..it is a good idea, it should be slanted towards protecting the buyer. Received my Aimpoint today, once I test the NV when I get to work tomorrow I'll give the guy his feedback.

I sold a Franklin Mint Air Plane on ebay about 6 weeks ago. I received the payment and sent it to the address that ebay instructed me to send it to. About 1 week and a half ago I get an email from the buyer. The buyers sends me pictures of what is left of the plane. Turns out it ended up in China. Now the buyer wants ME to send his money back and opens up a Paypal claim. So I call Paypal as they put an $87 hold on my account.
Paypal does some digging and it turns out the buyer got his own shipping company to ship him the plane. Now because his shipping company destroyed his plane he's asking me for money. He was stating the item was not as described. It was as described when it got to New Jersey. It took Paypal less then five minutes to deny his claim. Before I was off the phone with them the money was back in my account.
He then leaves me negative feedback, because I wouldn't send him any money. Those that use ebay know that they can leave positive feedback leave feedback later or report the buyer/seller to ebay. I reported him to ebay and a week later his feedback was removed.

Hey, I'm an eBay seller and not a bad guy. Well, not TOO bad! I have bought (450+) much more than I have sold. I have had problems, perhaps 10, in the last few years with buyers. Many were "I didn't know it was a pick-up only" even though it was mentioned numerous times in my ad. A few would give me a day & time to pick up my item then didn't show. A couple would just never acknowledge my e-mails of the sale. Let's face it folks, there are A.H.'s among us. :)
It's too late for me, save yourself.

I love Ebay. I have bought 100's of MRR items on there. 98% of the time it goes perfect. The other 2% is handled asap by PayPal. But only an complete idiot would consider buying a car from Ebay.

eBay is certainly a Love/Hate kinda place. I hate their mostly liberal views/agendas and how much it costs to sell an item there (13-15% including paypal fees). I also hate how easy they are on bidders who don't pay - as far as I can tell nothing happens to them and you can't leave negative feedback and get your fees refunded too. I have yet to buy a car on eBay. I would but only paying for it in person.

But I have to love ebay too in that it helps me to not be a hoarder. I can't even guess how many things I was going to set aside (never to be used again) or throw away and thought "wonder if this will sell on ebay?" And almost always the answer is 'yes'. Many times I've gotten way more $$ than what I had given for an item. Where else can you buy something, use it for a year or two and then resell it & get all your money back or even make money on it?

The only other place I can think of is GunBroker - as long as it is gun related.
