Flordia passes New Law Today,

danlittledanlittle Member Posts: 2,242 ✭✭✭✭✭
It is now legal in Fla. to shoot to kill if you are under a threat
& think you might be harmed.
News said NRA got it passed.
I hope it spreads thru-out the country, but also hope people use their brain before they take a life.

That's one reason I live in FL. We got a good guy in the governor's mansion.

What did you do before this law? Ask permission?

Viva TEXAS! (Where the real Bush lives!)

As a matter of fact, we do. However, FL's economy is booming, relatively low unemployement, property values have increased 30% in the past 2 years, great wheather, pro-gun state, sales tax is 6.5%, got a nice Air&Sea show this weekend in Fort Lauderdale Beach (free), Nascar championship is determined here, etc., etc., etc. When I retire, I do want to get the heck out of here, though.

I grew up in Fla, HS & C there, was a nice place to live.
Still have family there. But, I guess I will just stay in in Mo. till I die of Old Age or taxes

Mateo, this law really won't change anything. It extends the "home is your castle" doctrine while you're in your car, or out in public. You still have the obligation to flee first. The anti-gunners used the same tired arguement that FL will become a "wild, wild west". They said the same thing in '89 when FL approved concealed carry. The arguement failed, 'cause we were always a wild, wild west state anyway. [;)]

I don't know about you, but if it gets to the point of me pulling out my gun, I ain't going to try to just wing the other guy. I'm going center mass til the gun is empty. I'll have to handle the legal questions later. The District Atty teaching our CCW class agreed with me about that. If you are carrying a concealed firearm, you should only use it if you fear for your safety, not to bluff or scare someone away. Remember, some of those bad guys are NOT afraid of you OR your gun!
