Immigration Officials Remove 100 From Manheim Farm

MANHEIM, Pa. - WGAL.com

A third of the workforce at Manheim-based Kreider Farms has been wiped out following a federal immigration audit for illegal immigrants.

Kreider said it knew it was being audited by the Department of Homeland Security last September.

The results showed about 100 Kreider employees had invalid documentation after a check of their Social Security numbers and their names.

Kreider said it assumed the workers' documents were valid.

As a result, many of the workers who were let go had been with the company for years.

"We're saying goodbye to some good friends and people who have served us very well and been really good employees for Kreider's, so it's been a sad week. On the other hand, we had to do this," said Terri Turner of Kreider Farms.

To replace the workers, Kreider is now hiring farm laborers for jobs paying between $9 and $14 an hour.

i don't think that's so bad for unskilled labor.
but you can go on the dole and do just as well. with health care!!
then just do a few cash jobs here and there, work when you want to.
there's no incentive to get ahead anymore.....

i bust my * all day for 15 at what many would call "skilled" labor
why that pay ? because i learned it asll by the seat of my pants and dont have the "paper" to say i know it because i sat and read it in a book someplace
so that means i usually end up getting paid LESS to show the higher paid "professionals" who went to "school" how to do it![:(]

the beauty of KNOWING what you are doing, is that you can take a class or two at a time, at night, then get that "peice of paper" easily. You already have what it takes to pass the exams,...[;)] You don't have to study,..just show up and take the tests[8D]

I know guys who have done just that[8]

William Hayden of Red Jacket has a job opening. Since he does not have an FFL and the only guy who possessed one got fed up with Wills BS and left to start his own company he needs to hire someone quickly.

All you need to do is be able to breath on your own and have a valid FFL.

vehicle insurance and fuel to GET to the job...
i barely afford FOOD most of the time let alone try school
did toy with the idea of the $60 on-line diplomas tho[}:)]

Oh my! I'll have to catch up on that crapfest of a show. The guy who was the only actual gunsmith was the only person there that I cared about. In that case, the guy with the piece of paper was the only competent person on staff, including the owner and his F-tard daughter.

I hope it tells where he went... I would gladly support his new business (but probably won't), as long as he doesn't sell silenced MK19's or turn tommy guns into video game hero guns for police chiefs just because they want them.

Only get $12.50 Myself. Have over 20 years as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic. But in this area those 20 years in the Marines count for Nothing. Really should have done the Apprenticeship program while in the service. But could get nobody in any of my Units to start it.

I did start it in my last unit and have it about halfway done. Just hope some of the guys I had working for me finished theirs.

I don't mean to step on anyones toes. Being a jack of all trades and master of none, when I first started out. I found out fast that, that route didn't pay well.Doctors and lawyers have their own nitch, and get payed well. The same goes for all the engineering degrees. If you have and idea of what trade you like best, then get your training in that trade. If you need a state or federal license get it. The money is not in the knowing of how to do a job, its in the paper or sheep skin that gives you a legal license to steal.[:D]

That company executives should be put in jail and fined for the amount the taxpayers had to pay for the welfare and other benefits.
If they knowingly hire illegals they should be jailed on the spot and fine for the total cost to taxpayers.

Gonna need more than just an ffl. There the special occupational taxes to be considered as well, if he wants to keep running the same business I.e. manufacturing machine guns, dd's, etc.
