I would avoid compaq if you don't want to deal with foreigners for customer service. I bought one years ago and tried to talk to customer service ONCE. After 2 and a half hours I finally gave up even though I was talking to a live person the entire time. [B)]

Dell---I've owned 5----wouldn't buy anything else

Dell has an "outlet" website for their products that have reduced prices.

I had most of them at one time or another, definately not dell, you cant intergrate any thing into them except dell, and they are over priced. My last computer was custom built at a local sales/repair shop that has a huge fowling and great reviews. This latest is great and the most bang for the buck[:D] aprox $600.00, no monitor, no keyboard, no speakers included.

Clean up the old one. Any junk on your old one can be put on the new one, so go after the problems.

I just bought an ASUS laptop after some searching around and talking to some of my friends and or relatives who are more savy than I am. Im not a computer person so I just wanted one for music, some light gaming, DVDs, etc. Pretty happy with it, iCore3 2.2 Gig processer, DVD/Cd drive, 500GB hard-drive, 3.0USB port, think it was about 500 with a mouse as well as I don't like using the small touchpad on laptops.

I have a Gateway I bought for under $600, no monitor, it is on my desk at work and has served me well for over a year...no issues whatsoever so I can't speak to their CS...

Or you could buy the power adapter for a Macbook Pro! [8)]

I have a Sony and it's never given me a bit of problem. Their online software downloads are really good too.

i will buy nothing but dells.

most if not all tech support will be overseas. thats just how it is.

do the research, read the reviews, and make an informed choice.

btw, cheap usually gets you mega problems in short order.
