mms- multimedia message service. no character limit, pictures, video etc.
Remember though that the green ones are for home runs.[;)]
I have a dumb phone (and operator!)
i don't get it.
i like red mm's the best. didn't they have blue ones for a while?

To all my friends that are much older than me. Just kidding, don't get your panties in a bunch. (See, you knew that old saying).
Msg: As we are all getting older, I would like to inform my friends on new acronyms so we can understand each other.
ATD- at the doctor
BFF- best friend fell
BTW- bring the wheelchair
BYOT-bring your own teeth
FWIW- forgot where i was
LMDO- laughing my dentures out
ROFLACGU- rolling on the floor laughing and cant get up
TTML- talk to me louder
T4M- time 4 meds
PMA- peed myself again
SHTTF- shouldn't have trusted that fart.
so, why send an MMS with a web link, instead of just sending email?

well since you asked, i'll answer your question. anybody that doesnt care about the answer and doesnt want to be bored to tears, click away now.
sms messages are sent diretcly from phone to phone over the radio waves. the reason they are so limited in size is because this method of data transmission cant handle the volume of larger messages.
mms messages being of larger size and much more involved detail cant be sent directly from device to device. they are uploaded from the sending device to an intermediary server temporarily. then, a regular sms message is sent to the receiving device telling it to go to the specified temporary server to download the message, which is then displayed in the mms console and deleted from the server.
in the event that a non mms capable device receives an mms message, all you get is a link to the intermediary sever. your phone cant handle the message so this is the only way to process it.
so, an MMS is a text msg that's too big for normal channels.
smart phones can email, right?
is it easier to MMS than email?
i just don't get it. freaking technology.........
thanks KEV.

in an over simplified fashion, yes mms is a grande sms.
if i wanted to send you a picture for example on your cell phone(presuming you have a smart phone), i could do it two ways:
1) i could open my email app, upload or attach the picture and send it to you. after receiving it, you would have to download the picture to see it.
2) i could open the picture, hit send via mms and be done with it. when you get it, it would already be there(no special step to download. that already took place behind the scenes).
both will get the picture from one place to another. mms is arguable more efficient. just about all new phones are mms compliant, so the distinction is moot.
