Looks like it may be coming to an end.

https://www.military.com/daily-news/2018/12/13/rolling-thunder-end-annual-memorial-day-ride-dc-after-2019.html?ESRC=eb_181214.nl

I have been there many years, hard to believe it could be ending.

Headed out first thing in the morning on my bike. I'm excited I got invited to attend by an old Navy friend who I haven't seen since 2003. So it should be fun to hook up with him during this.

Those on the East Coast have you heard how many showed up for it. A friend just posted a Video of on lot just full and she said their were 4 other lots with more bikes. I would say from Events I've been to their were at least 100,000 in that lot.

She is a Gold Star wife, A Navy Seal is providing her ride.

I did try to look it up but can find little on it.

Thought this was about "Arc Light."

    My bad.

    Rolling Thunder, a worthy endeavor.

    God Bless.

It is a big event. The group I ride with go every year. Was there for the 25th anniversary of the wall. We stay in Lessburg VA. The guy I was sharing a room with left for the Pentagon parking lot at 4 am by 6 am the lot was full. Over 500,000 motorcycles there that year.

Members of our group have some contacts in DC so that year we got a tour of Arlington by one of the Sentiels ( they are not guards). At that time there had only been 550 Sentinels. The guy was super impressive he gave us a tour of all of the places the public can't go in full dress uniform in 80-90 degree heat.

The parade on Sunday is impressive. There is a Marine that salutes all of the bikers. He does it in full dress uniform and is out there for almost four hours. I heard that a while ago he did I that with a broken wrist.

Missed going this year my roommate had to run it in (joking) he gave me a call on Friday from Arlington.

Made it hard to get home this morning. Had a speaking engagement last night @ Gettysburg and tried to make it home before road closures. No luck.

Raining out here today. Hope they stay safe.

My bad. I thought this was about the day after eating chili, boiled eggs, cucumbers, and beer.

Traveling south on I-95 through Maryland and Virginia along about 2004, I believe it was, heading north were bikers several abreast. As I recall we were all driving the speed limit and for about 20 minutes or so the column kept rolling north. Quite a sight.
    What's next?

    That would be SSgt Chambers.
To hold a salute for that length of time is quite an endeavor. To have done it with an untended broken wrist must have been brutal.
