How many guns is to much????

Some people ask why I have so many guns since I don't hunt. I say I do, I hunt the gun. As of now I have 35 guns and are hunting more. Is this a problem? I just enjoy buying and shooting some of them. Some are still in the box and will never be shot. If my son (6years old now)is in to guns I guess he will get them, if not we will have a gun sale one day.
How many do you have and what do you think???

Ps I am not taking anything away from my family I don't spend what we don't have No credit cards.

Thanks

I can never have enuff guns. Although I shoot everything I have. I go out at least 2 times a week and I thake different guns each time. I also shoot aprox 1000 rounds total every time I go out.
I do need to start reloading my own to help with the cost of all this shooting. but untill I get me a good storage and work area I'll just keep buying ammo.
I support you in your collecting as long as you don't put it before your other priorities.

I have a core group of guns...NIB collectable that never see the light of day maybe 20 total always add to those when the price is right. then my personal shooters which I have become accustomed to and would not sell I think I have all I would ever need.

    one manual operated shotgun
    one manual operated 22 rifle
one manual operated big game rifle
    one revolver

one box (-25 rds)of ammo each

After comprehensive licensing of gun owners and all firearms this will be the number and type of firearms you may have in your possesion except by special permits such as competition, etc.

Get ready, this will be here within 10 years and all very legal according to the 2nd Amend.

41 now and about 7 more to go to complete the list. But given the nature of the beast I think that list will most likely keep growing. [:D]

A visitor to our home once asked my wife if she was afraid to be in our house with so many firearms. She replied saying that all the firearms are kept securely locked in the safes and that we feed them regularly so they don't get mad at us. Our visitor with a sigh of relief then said "thank God they can't get at you"

True story, and I heard it with my own ears from the mouth of a supposedly educated and well traveled person.

Once you get to five or six you've pretty much got all you NEED to do about anything.
After that it's about what you WANT. And you can have as many as you can afford, but probably never all of them that you want....[:D]

Passing on the Tradition is pretty important. So I always keep a few extra around for gifts or trade. But quantity of Ammo is the big debate around here.

I agree that there is no limit on the amount of guns you enjoy owning. Now I have found that in many cases the wives have a totally different yardstick about this limit!

You have reached that point when you buy a gun, go to put it in the safe, and realize- "Oh- I already have one of those".

Good to see there's someone else besides me that does that. I have a pellet rifle but my wife is making me sell it because she says it makes her nervous. [;)]

Guns are like baseball cards, you have to have one of every kind out there to "complete the set." [:D]

But honestly, I'd say as many guns as you can reasonably store and maintain. You have too many guns if you don't have enough room to store them or enough time to clean and maintain them. Why just let them lie around and go unused and start to rust and become dingy, just so you can say you have them? [:(]

Thats easy, if there is a particular model or caliber that you don't own then you don't have enough. Should you ever reach the time that you have every make, model and caliber, its time to double up.[:D]

You have too many guns when the wife gives you the fish-eye when she catches you reading a gun catalog.

Around here it is very important, for the sake of peace in the family, to watch out for the wife's fish-eye.

    that's what i was thinking

i quit counting around 48 that was a few years ago, and if the wife was to hear numbers i would probably heat some serious B.S., i do need to update my personal log, i keep one for insurance with pics/serial numbers and values for insurance, and if something was to happen to me, the wife could pay off the house

(I somewhat agree with you...but read on)

But I "need" two 22 caliber pistols. One with a standard barrel and one with a 10" bull barrel.

I need a somewhat decked out 10/22...who doesn't? (with three 25 round Butler Creek clips)

I need a couple of Swedish Mausers. One is a standard M96, with target grip, flash hider, and Timney trigger. Other is an FSR with diopter...really...I "need" both.

I "need" three Russian 7.62x54R's...one M44, one M91/30, and one M91 Dragoon....well...they are cheap to shoot!

I only have one 223 bull barrel single shot.

I have four Swiss K31's. I "needed" them all...as they all of different names!

Two revolvers...need them both. Who cannot live without a 357 Magnum and a 44 Magnum. Personally, if you don't own a Magnum....well...you don't own guns!
