Fired it one mag full and sold it. Just too much to handle. In the meantime the rifle is in another state.

Move or send gun to another state seems the only logical answer. After the time expires you face a felony. Lose gun,, probably s/n will go in a data base as "lost",, then, anyone with possession even in another state has received stolen property. Plus the FFL transfer out of state,, in state, not good either.

You could keep or lose the .50 cal firearm,, that could get you jail time if caught. You would never be able to shoot it where someone can observe, etc. Setting 5,000 dollars on fire and watching it burn comes to mind.

Maybe some know differently,, but when firearms are banned in the US the government will allow retention but under rules, have not looked at what happens in various states because in Texas,, things are better than,,, California for one.

Australia used a tax increase specifically earmarked for the repurchase of weapons. The prices listed on the net were in line with the current values and a person could request an appraisal for an individual weapon.

We interned American Japanese citizens during WW2,, did we give them anything for their losses ? A home land defense measure could put this nationwide.
