Quick Gibson Guitar Help Please

Hey everyone... I'm in a position where I need to sell some stuff to get some extra money. I'm selling everything I don't really need anymore. First off... the guns will go LAST IF they go at all [V]. Anyway, I have a Gibson guitar that I don't really know much about. I have checked several guitar sites and can't find a picture of the one I have. The serial number on the guitar is 917964796. On the Gibson guitar page they have a serial number search, but it doesn't really help. Do any of you know that model this guitar is by the serial number? It has 2 single pickups, and 2 knobs. It's not an antique or anything like that, just a guitar that I bought while stationed in California. I don't know what to ask for it if I don't know what it's worth. Most pawn shops and music stores around here really rip you off, so I'm going to try to sell it outright. I don't want to get ripped off and I don't want to rip the buyer off either. I'm just looking for a fair price. Any info you guys/gals could provide would be a help. Thanks! - SteelToe

If you find out just e-mail me... Thanks
Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it is empty.

Need more information if you want to know the make and value.
It sounds like you DO NOT have one of the (more) popular Les Paul variants or any of the serious Gibson archtops. A two knob, two single pickup Gibson probably isn't a top model, and I'm guessing its one of the lower end Gibsons made to complete with the more modern "Rock" guitars.
If you can't get a photo, at least answer the following questions:
1. Are the tuning machines all in a straight line, or three on a side?
2. What kind of finish does the guitar have (paint, or varnished wood)? Is there a pickguard?
3. Is the bridge fixed or is there a tremolo?
4. What kind of shape does the body have? Is it a "weird" design, like a "flying V" or "thunderbird". A Les Paul-like single cutaway? Two cutaways?
Worst come to worst, if you bring it into any music store, somebody should be able to tell you what you have. (I definitely would NOT try to sell it there, though).
