Archery season opens tomorrow. I've got the atv loaded, everything packed and heading out tonight. I would leave earlier but I had promised the local Boy Scout leader that I would help him with his class to earn merit badges for firearms sometime. Of all days, he had to pick after school today!!!

Still trying to decide which of three stands that I want to be on in the morning. All three have had quite a bit of activity around them.

Dove season went so-so. We typically hunt only opening weekend because it is still so warm.

Hunt with your son today instead of hunting for him tomorrow.

My bow season opens in the morning. The lows this morning were 45 here which is almost unheard of this time of year for us.

I have not had the time for bowhunting yet. Maybe Sunday. Talking with others in town it doesn't seem like the deer are moving too much. We had mostly soybeans planted around us and they are not harvesting those yet. The corn has been picked, those fields have all the doves right now.

Like in the NFL, defense is the key.

You are a fine wingshot indeed. I've only seen a couple of guys shoot close to 50% on doves. Very impressive. When I hit 25% I feel very fortunate. Our first split was pretty much a bust here with the hurricane, but there are huge amounts of doves in places now where I've only seen handfuls in years past. Now we've just heard that LDWF may close deer season south of the Intracoastal which is where we have a small lease. Good luck on the rest of the year.

I went grouse hunting on saturday and sunday up in International Falls, MN. I shot four on saturday, but I could have shot a few more, my friend was using a .22 and I gave him half of the shots. A head shot one a grouse is not the easiest thing to do. We saw about 15 over about six hours on saturday, and none over three hours on sunday.

    "Job hunting isn't going well...still."

    I haven't started yet.[;)]

As far as "hunting" goes,I fired two shots at doves the first weekend, just because we were down at my Dad's water hole, fishin'.

    Missed'em both.[:D]

Just haven't felt like sittin down by my own "dove pond" when it's 95-100 degrees.[xx(]

    As a side note;

One of my buddies just got back from his annual 3-day hunt in Mexico.

Said he shot about 3 cases of shells.

The group of about 15 hunters killed 7,753 birds!!!!

Kinda makes me not even want to try.[:D]

Bow season started this past Saturday, but I don't bow hunt,so I guess I'm glad I ain't hangin' in a tree in this heat.

Gun season starts Nov.5th,and I'm ready.

I went about 10 to 1 on doves last weekend. I'm planning a deer hunt in Maine for Nov. Just picked up a dozen Gamegetters at the archery shop so that I can get back in practice with bow for next season.

My two sons and I were Moose hunting here in Maine last week. They had the permit, I was only along to do the work. They got a 650lb bull. Grouse opened here Sat., but I haven't been yet. Was stuck in a gun show all weekend.[:)]

All smiles after getting my big blacktail on the 1st. I haven't done any quail or squirrel hunting yet but will get around to it. Luck to all.

I'm still debating buying a deer tag. I don't really have the time to go out this season, so I may just try and shoot squirrels.
