The first wipe is the most important

Yuppers, the first wipe when laying floor tile is the one that determines the quality of the grout job. You MUST get any left over grout off the face of the tile yet avoid wetting the grout lines too much. It is a fine balance this wiping thing, a little too hard and you ruin a good job, a little to light and you leave a mess for later......

Messes when not wiping are all too common these days....

    Very misleading......but nonetheless true! [;)][:D]
It's being willing. I found out early that most men, regardless of cause or need, aren't willing. They blink an eye or draw a breath before they pull the trigger. I won't. ~ J.B. Books

Tile man, laying tile, the first wipe on the grout sets the stage for a job-well-done!

A good wipe is most satisfying...

I LOVE laying tile but it is a back and knee killer for sure. I take my hat off to ya, it had to beat the snot out of your body.

I forget, do you use the white cob or the red/brown cob for that first wipe?

You use the red/brown first. Then use the white one to determine if you need another red/brown. Repeat as necessary. [:D]

Yep, thought this thread was going in "whole" different direction.
