My niece Andrea is heading to Oregon from Texas for a wedding and mini vacation, for 7 days. She asked me to ask you guys what she should go to see and do while out there. She has the means to travel, so any part of the state is fine. The wedding is in Portland. Thanks a million guys. Oakie.

The Oregon Coast.
"say" Oregun so you sound Local.
Then head North to see Mount St Helens, Rainier, and ride the Ferry from Anacortes to Friday Harbor, take local trip to Roche Harbor. Orcas Island was my old stompin grounds, as was Eugene.

She should contact the Oregon Travel Bureau before she heads out. It is actually one of the things this crazy state does well. The Travel Guides are free, and have lots of info for the different parts of the state. If she orders them, they will arrive in a week or less.
Keep in mind Oregon is almost 100,000 square miles. Not as big as Texas, but way bigger than them cute little states you have back on the East Coast. [;)]
If I had one suggestion to make for a 7 day trip, it would be for her to saddle up and head east on I-84, see Multnomah Falls, then south on Hwy 35 and drive around Mt. Hood, and make a loop back to Portland on Hwy 26. It is an easy day trip. Then go to the Oregon Coast. The Pacific Ocean Coast line is different than most anything on the east coast or the Gulf. It is absolutely beautiful any spot you pick.
If she needs anything while here, just holler. I am a bit east of Portland. PM me and I will get you my contact info.
I attached the link for the TravelOregon site.

Around Portland:
Pittock Mansion
Multnomah Falls
The Grotto
Washington Park
The rest of the state:
Headwaters of the Metolius River
Crater Lake
Newberry Crater Lava Fields
Oregon Coast
Oregon Caves
Oregon coast is beautiful especially down near Newport & Waldport (pretty light houses)
Portland can be fun but it can also be a pita with traffic.

No problem, Oakie. Just holler and let me know if you send a PM. My AOL email system doesn't always understand the concept of communication.
Any of the places mentioned that I've visited would be beautiful and memorable.

You got to quit drinkin' that cheap stuff, it's I-84, not I-90.

THAT is exactly what I would be doing..[:p][:p][:p][:p]
Ray,

Ever since they changed it from I-90N and added I-94 to the northern route at Billings I've never been able to keep them straight, and besides, if you've seen one Interstate, you've pretty much seen them all.
By the way, we are leaving in the morning for Vancouver and my wife and I are planning on spending Saturday in Carson so see you at the Gun Show. I'm bringing that partially consumed bottle of 1910- since I'd prefer to give it to someone that appreciates it.[:)][:)]
