CHL Expired

Oregon has changed the way they do things, They used to send a letter reminding you your License is about to expire.

Well Yesterday I saw an Article that said to renew or to get a new one you now need to get an appointment to turn your form in. So I pulled mine out and its expired 30 June.

Next available appointment is Sept. And I will have to act like I'm getting a new one. Costs more and more paper works.

Checked their WEB page and they had just added the note about not sending out Notices.

So not I will not have one till Around Dec.

    Well, that sucks.

Here we have 150 days to renew. That's 90 days before expiration and 60 days after. The Arizona State DPS mails out renewal packets. Renewal fee is $43. Then they have to have your permit to you inside of 75 days or explain why. My permit arrived inside of two weeks.

Nikki Haley signed a bill here in SC that requires them to send notice of renewal now.
Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!

I guess they got rid of that position and saved a butt load of cash. I guess you'll have to open carry now.

I've had a handgun license of some sort since I was 18. Started with a PA Sportsmans permit to carry a handgun hunting or fishing then when I turned 21 I got a PA "Protection Permit" which was a concealed carry license. Now I have two, MT and UT, would love to add a NV license but from what I understand I have to do that in person and have all my handguns that I may carry with me to have them listed on my license. Heard some of that is supposed to change but I havent see any official writings yet. But in all these years I have never let one expire, to me that expiration date is just as important ad my drivers license.

Arizona has both Constitutional Concealed Carry and the permit option. The permit has some advantages. No NICS when buying from an FFL if you show your permit. You can carry on places that serve alcohol, but may not imbibe.

Every time our legislators try for carry rights inside govt buildings or schools, the permit again is the advantage. But those laws have not passed. So still just talk for now.

Hi there. I am a NV CCW instructor and some of your information USED to be true. The law changed a couple of years ago. You no longer need to bring all of your guns to the class. You need to qualify with any single handgun, and it doesn't even have to be owned by YOU. The model, type, caliber, serial number, etc, are NOT, repeat NOT, recorded. You shoot ANY handgun you want, of any caliber. If you qualify, your NV CCW card authorizes you to carry ANY handgun concealed for the next 5 years. Some folks show up and qualify using a small .22 but state that their carry gun is going to be a "Binford 2000 Master Blaster Super Magnum" ('cause that's what their hero on TV carries). [:D] So, come on down to NV and get your card. Nonresidents can take the one day course and qualify in any county in the state. Bring along one handgun and at least 30 rounds of ammo. There is a classroom session that lasts a few hours, then the range session. 30 rounds fired at a mansized silhouette from 3, 5, and 7 yards. 30% (21 shots) have to hit SOMEWHERE on the silhouette. (Anyone that can't do that shouldn't be carrying anyway.) After the class, it's off to the sheriff's department for fingerprints and photograph, then waiting a few days or weeks for the background check to come back.

As compared to Arizona. Where, in addition to a clean record, you are required to be breathing. That's about it. No shooting, no touching of guns. You need not own a gun. A gun is unlikely to be present in the classroom. If there are any guns around, they are not there for you to touch. All Arizona really wants to determine is that you are not a criminal and you have a pulse and respiration. Those last two requirements evidenced by the fact you neither arrived nor left the class in a coffin, body bag or other means of transporting and containing a cadaver.

Arizona only gives concealed weapon permits to living applicants.

We do not receive a notice, it is clearly printed on the permit. It is incumbent on the permit holder to pay attention to such things. We don't receive separate notices on our Drivers License expiration either.

Interesting. Arizona has automated systems to send out driver licence renewals. Works pretty good. I know one of the software database architects who consulted on the design.

Don't know if they have simila2r for gun permits.

As part of the save-money plan in Washington they quit sending driver's license renewals and so mine expired because I never looked at it. When I realized that it was expired it had been expired nearly a year. I went to Licensing and got it renewed. No problem, but I think the state figured out that their saving a stamp cost them a years worth of fees, because the next time around I got a post card noting that my driver's license was about to expire.
