school shootings and security

After Sandy Hook, all we heard about was how can this be prevented? Of course the liberal answer was to try and ban firearms. We all know that is not the answer.
Some suggested posting law enforcement and or security guards, which may or may not be a viable solution - mostly economic wise.
Not once do I recall anyone suggesting guard dogs. Again, it might not be a cost effective measure for all areas, but it could be for many.
Guard dogs would not be a complete solution, but could be an affordable alternative compared to armed security.
A trained German Shepherd might have saved lives at Sandy Hook.

In order to have a school shooting four things are needed: 1. a school; 2. kids attending the school; 3.a gun; 4. someone shooting the gun. While #3&4 are difficult to prevent, #1&2 are easily avoided. Considering the lack of quality in the educational system it would be much more cost effective to hire teachers as in-home providers and increase the quality as well as the safety of education.
Number 4 is easy to prevent. We merely lack the Will to do so.
