    Electric or Blade?

I used to use the Norelco electric, but when the blades got dull and tried to buy replacements a year later the shaver was out of style and the blades were hard to get. I switched to the Gillete Mach 3 and will not go back to electric agin, the Mach 3 is a closer shave.

Any help on how to trim a modest (1/2") beard? I'm new to this and have no idea. All you jokers out there just don't say a weedeater, bush-hog, etc! I'm about 70 y.o. and have no family to discretely ask! This is my first try.

    Thanks guys,

An old man walks into the barbershop for a shave and a haircut, but he tells the barber he can't get all his whiskers off
because his cheeks are wrinkled from age.

The barber gets a little wooden ball from a cup on the shelf and tells him to put it inside his cheek to spread out the skin.

When he's finished, the old man tells the barber that was the cleanest shave he's had in years, but he wanted to know what would
have happened if he had swallowed the little ball.

The barber replied, "Just bring it back tomorrow like everyone else does."

Just curious if I am the only old fashoned one around!

Does anyone out there still use the old shaving soap, mug, and brush?

I know the good shaving soap is getting hard to find anymore!

I recently taught myself how to wet shave with shaving soap, a barber brush and a double-edged razor, and all I can think is why isn't that style of shaving very popular anymore? It doesn't take much longer than using canned shaving cream, and (in my experience anyway) it produces a better result than canned shaving cream and a multi-blade razor.

The next step is to teach myself how to use a straight blade, but I'm a little bit leery of that, as it doesn't take a lot mistakes to make a bloody mess...literally.

M3power. Somehow the vibration makes for less burn and scrape.

If anyone has not tried the Mach 3 or M3P, do your self a favor and try one. The rearragement of the head and blades is a quantum leap over any previous razor.

Use a Braun electric. It does an OK job, but I thinking of switching back to the diposables to get a closer shave.

I truly love to shave. Make my face feel clean. Use the Gillett three blade razor. Have tried beards but don't have the face style for it, just doesn't look good on me.

Gillette Mach 3 Turbo. I also have an old Norelco which I use once in a while to even out my sideburns (or Burnsides).

It's OK, you can admit it, you just like vibrators.[;)] Just kidding, of course. (maybe?)

I agree, the three blade way gives a better shave anyday.[:)]

    I like mine because it's got a half-life of
10,000 years ... and will never wear out in
my lifetime! It also glows in the dark so I
don't wake up the misses when she's trying
to sleep and I'm shaving nearby!

Mrs. K and my daughters bought me a Braun electric shaver for Christmas a couple of years back and while it gives a decent shave, for me the Mach 3 is the only way to go.

    Nope.

I use the Mach 3, its a great shave. I would wear a beard, but I quickly look like Grizzly Adams, and my workplace doesn't like that. So I stick with a somewhat unruly goatee, which they tolerate.

Man, I can't get the DSL to work on mine! The 5mm TV is nice if you pair it with the optional underchin camera. One heckuva shave though....just don't accidentally trigger the pepper spray! [B)]

Been using a Mach 3 for the past 3 years now or so. I think people get way to into their razors. Any of you seen the new razor with 4 or 5 blades? Thats getting a little nutty.

Try shaving your legs....head upside down in the shower...for a quick go over because you want to wear shorts and not attract a bigfoot that day.

Mach3 or M3Power, whichever I grab, there are like 5 or 6 in the main bath and shower, one is probably even mine!*LOL*
I will say the M3Power gives one helluva close shave, though. Comfortable, tooo! No razor burn[:)]

When I was younger my dad always used the old gillete razor the kind you had to put the double edged blade into and he used to tease me that when he died that razor was all I would get. Well dad died last November and I did in fact get that razor and I have never had a better shave.

Shaving? What is this "shaving" you speak of? I've heard of it, but don't really remember it.....it has been 15+ years since I last did it, I think....

Last shave was in 70 something.
Still have the old Norelco I bought in Europe in 1960, though.

I too have one of those but it's for squaring the side burns. Straight razor for neck and jaw. Mach 3 for under the nose and anywhere I'm not sure about the straight razor. That is when I have the time. Since the straight razor gives a nice finish that lasts longer than Mach 3 alone.

Do you know anyone who still uses a straight razor? I don't.
