If you wondered what they have built at the space station...have a look ..Holy smoke ...incredible!!!!
This is a great animation showing all the segments of the Space Station, the modules and the international partners that have helped create it.
Pass along to your friends and show them that this is what we've been flying the Shuttle for the past several years
also be sure to check out the other options at the top of the page

Now if only it did anything... like had a magnetic sail and mining and manufactureing equipment, and went off to the asteroid belt... but no... its a big floating thing in space that we throw money into - sort of like a pleasure boat - except the denser stuff is on the inside
for all we know it may have some space ray pointing at the world
I don't see the value of labs up there - I am very sceptical any science they do up there is worth it, excluding cosmic observation.
Given we have the technology for magnetic sails (better than solar sails, and uch easier to make), VASIMR engines, compact nuclear reactors, - we should have a spacecraft able to cruise around the solar system.
Factor in CNC machinery, and other manufacturing advances, there is a real possibility that space could be colonized, asteroids mined, etc - but, you would need to get a lot of equipment up there to get an effort going- and so far the majority of the equipment we've sent up there is useless for that endeavor
