I'm a vacation guy. Maybe I just don't like Indiana! I've been out west to RMNP to camp, Sturgis, and all over the old west about 23 times. Vegas 20 times (there 3 weeks ago). Been to Daytona for the Firecracker 400 and bike week 4 times. Been to Europe 4 times and now hope I have enough left to have a couple vacations in me!
It's too late for me, save yourself.

Hit the road at least once a year usually with no plans just point the car in a general direction and see America

Once a year if possible. Sometimes Vegas sometimes just to California to visit family. Christmas 2018 we're taking the kids to Disneyland(which will be the whole family's Christmas present). Summer of 2018 may be taking my first cruise to Alaska.

    Same here, joe.
We've stayed in so many motels with family members in nearby hospitals, I don't want to leave home.

    Actually not very often.

Vacations cause me a certain amount of anxiety.
In my chosen field... I have zero backup when I'm away.
And with today's technology... I have 24/7 access to my job.
With that scenario, I'm constantly on edge waiting for the 'big' problem to show up
and me to be several hundred or thousand miles away completely helpless,
relying entirely on 'someone else' to to make the 'fix'.

So to be on a vacation to me is not a very good "rest" at all.
I tend to take a day here and a day there... To get personal business done.
Maybe a couple of days at home resting if I know that I'm ahead of the game.

I'd like to, but every time I turn my back on the job for even a few minutes, it all goes to hell. Haven't had what you'd call a real vacation in decades, and I am in serious need of one.

    Peace

We take trips to the coast several times a year. We also go on road trips fairly often.

I have spent too much time on airplanes to enjoy doing that for fun.

When I was in the Navy (8 years & 9 months), I used up my leave every year; usually to go home at Christmas.

In my 30 year career after the Navy, I earned 3 weeks of vacation per year, so 2 weeks was used for family vacation and 1 week for hunting or fishing trips.

I've been retired for right at 10 years now and every day is a vacation! [:D] We no longer call our getaways vacations, they're road trips! [:D]

Never. I work everyday yet I enjoy what I do. Does that mean I never work? If I don't work does that make everyday a vacation? I am confused.

I live in "Shang gra La", so I consider every day a vacation.

Hard to take a vacation when being self employed with no employees. For many years only took a few days here and there.

Now that my wife is retired and getting closer myself we have taken a week off every other year.

We try to travel frequently. I'm retired & wife doesn't work outside of our home so it isn't hard to get away. We did Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam and Vegas last month. We also do frequent short trips and we visit her family in the Philippines every couple of years.

If "vacation" means "time off from work" then I started my current vacation 10 years ago.

If it means travel away from home, then it's a few times each year.
    I may be a bit crazy - but I didn't drive myself.

That's absolutely amazing! Not that you've only taken one vacation in 24 years but rather that you're only 58 years old. [:D][:D]

Enjoying a glass of vino biancho in Florence right now. Not big on cabin-on-the-lake, week-at-the-beach or going-to-Disney vacations, but we love to travel. Art or natural history, ancient history too. On the other hand the next trip is to Ohio to visit the BIL.

Two two weeks a year but next year three two weekers. I don't go any where just stay home for the past 6 years? I need to plan for end of November next year so I can binge watch all my Black Friday DVDs. September for the DVD release of last season so folks can get ready for the new season. And maybe March so can get my Irish on or May to get my Beaner on? This one is the one I need to lock down since March is just around the corner.

What is a vacation? To much to do around the house, jobs, etc. to vacate from. Unless it was job related, family in hospital, I have never been, but one time one night away from home.

Whenever the mood strikes us. More her then me. I hate to be away from the business. We usually go to Key West or Sanibel for Christmas and new Years and usually a trip somewhere in May. I send Donna and her sister to Mexico, out west or an Island, a couple times a year. I would rather stay home and work, hunt, fish, golf or just work in my wood shop. I try to do something with the family twice a year, but never seem to have the time or ambition, like I did when I was younger.

Six weeks paid and I work a swing shift. I tie my week off with vacation for fourteen days off every other month need it not.

I think we rented someones house in the Eagle River lake area a few years ago. Not even sure it was considered a vacation. To travel a thousand miles or so and stay at a hotel or something similar has never happened.

I love to travel. Vacations to somewhere warm during the MN winters is very appealing but lately I have been burning up my vacation time in the woods and lakes of northern MN.

Wife and I try to go to Myrtle Beach twice a year...3 nights in February and 5-6 nights in Sept. That is the only "vacations" we take. Anything longer than that I am I get bored, I prefer to be home so by the end of 5 nights way I am ready to get home.

Used to take one real vacation about every year, mainly for the kids.
Haven't been anywhere in the last 5 years.

Take small trips every year around Texas. They usually are based on learning history. We're not the sit on the beach and do nothing types.
