Gas powered post hole digger?

OK,

Someone out there has to be able to asnwer this question for me.

I have a Jeffy Ice Auger that I don't use any longer. I need a Post Hole Digger, and I want to know if the ice auger will do the same thing as a gas powered Earth Auger?

It should I have sold a lot of earth augers that are used on an ice auger

But, would the auger blade its self work the same, or should it be changed?

I think if your in clear soft soil you will be OK, any roots or rocks are going to leave you wishing you had the real thing. I have ran both the cable and the hydraulic type, the hydraulic is best hands down.

I think you need to change it all of the ice augers I have sold have a soild shaft these are spring loaded

Yep... If you hit a rock/root with that ice auger, u better hope the clutch slips,or you'll break/sprain your wrists. AT LEAST!

Most of the soil I will be digging in is sandy loam, with some rocks.
