Stopped at a redlight near the house two days ago and a black Mustang with red stripe on the side, probably about a 68, pulled up next to the wife and I, and man did it ever look and sound good. followed it a couple of blocks and he turned into the same residential road that I take to get home. He probably lives witin a half mile of me unless he was just visiting the neighborhood. Never saw one before, but it was one hot machine.

I believe a '68 would either be a GT500 with a 427 or a GT with a 428 Cobra Jet.

Woody & m88.358win: Close to the sound but not as good!

Greg: It was clearly marked 427, but I did not see the GT500 marking, although the strip running down the side of the car was in the middle . I'm going to take a drive through the neighborhood this afternoon to see if I can find it again.

A '68 GT500 would have "Shelby" decals instead of "Ford" ones.

Besides Shelby there was a couple dealer installed 427's into 1968 Mustangs from Holman Moody and perhaps Tasca the 427 was listed as a option but as far as anyone knows no factory installs was ever done

The 427 in m88.358win's video is a 427 Small Block. They are built off a 351W style block.

The 427 Big Block is an FE series motor with the famous split heads.

Either one will collect all the speeding tickets a guy could ever want. [;)][:D]

The 428 came out in the '67 Mustang. It had a 390 and the 427 was a special order. It was in the Fairlane, also. I was in Ford dealers from '65 to '71.
