How far would you go in fighting prejudice?

How far would you go to combat prejudice? A recent magazine article tells the story of how an Idaho mother took on a neo-Nazi Aryan cult in her town. If you knew of a hate group living near your home, would you have the courage to take them on? Or would you move away out of fear? Do you try to combat prejudice or discrimination in your everyday life? How?

    Being in the military most of my adult life I feel very strongly about prejudices. I personally am prejudice against prejudice people, I believe they should all be used for targets. Its lucky for those type of people that we live in a country that protects their right to be an a$$h0!e. It really burns me that people like me are in some cases supporting people like these, as well as involountarily protecting their rights to live free, when they should in fact die. I can only be angry, and do nothing about their life style, until they do something do me, my friends, family, neighbors, or brothers in arms. If that ever happens, and it hasnt yet, then its on. I will gladly kill someone that commits a hate crime, and I would be wrong for it, but thats life, I cant always be right, even though I am. I personally know its wrong to take a life, but I live by a simple rule, an eye for an eye, so if a prejudice person commits a crime of racism or a type of hate crime in my neighborhood, and I can do anything about it, or I get to them before the law, the problem will be taken care of, if I can get away with it. Just for the record, I deny ever having said any of this, it must be someone else using my computer with my login password.

    Funny in the little addition I live in, I am the bad influence, and also the one the neighbors call on if something hits the fan, I don't know something about a AR-10 and a Laser site that just freaks out criminals, they never run though. Had a couple of "skinheads" move in down the road about a mile, stuff started disappearing, they were informed that they were be watched, low and behold about a month Later BATF bust them for planning to blow up a Gas Refinery, had enough explosives to level about a 3 block area, so the local news said. Now that I think about it I haven't seen anything on Tv or in the paper about a trial. To answer your question, I don't intimidate easy, so they better be able to back what they say up, and besides all that they pray on fear.

    I don`t like hate groups..but a lot of the people they hate,aren`t all that great either!As I`ve said before,no matter what color you are,you only got about a 20% chance of me likin` ya anyway.These people selfdistruct anyway,before I ever know they are there.Being married to a latin girl,and my two kids with her are dark complected,I`m always on the lookout for such people..218

    I treat people as I feel they should be treated by their actions, if I don't know someone, I'm neutral, regardless of their race, how they dress, the kind of music they listen to. If they become a friend, great, if they prove to be a jerk, fine. None of my opinions are formed from race or appearance. It ain't illegal to be a bigot here, so I ignore them unless their actions harm someone I personally care about. They are the least dangerous people anyway, because you KNOW what they are about, and their very existence proves their stupidity.

    I'm not for any of these groups but was does bother me is that if a group of whites start a group, no matter the intentions they are labeled as a hate group. Now we know skinheads are a hate group but mostly all they do is make noise, the kkk for the most part wont hurt a flea but they talk big. But these people are labeled as a hate group. Now the blacks have the naacp, everyone thinks they are great but if you look closesly they are just as racial as any white group. The black panthers are just as bad as the kkk but who complains about them. Nobody unless your in the kkk. If white groups are bad and are going to be spit upon then so should the blacks. Equall treatment right? I don't bother listening to any of them, white or black and don't care one little bit what they have to say. In my book a hate group is a hate group no matter what color it represents. The naacp uses discrimation as their tool against us and the whites do whatever it is they do. Leave me the hell alone and I don't care what color you are. If you tell me you are in the clan or skinheads we will part company, if you tell me you are in the naacp we will part company. I beleive in equall treatment and if you need to belong to a group of haters to be treated equal you wont get it from me.

    I know I'll most likely get slammed for this but what the heck...While I in no way support racism or prejudice, I will support anyone's right to believe whatever they choose. If the KKK doesn't want black people in their group, then that's ok. If the NAACP doesn't want a white supporter that's absolutely fine. If the Boy Scouts decide to discriminate against Homosexuals, I can understand that. What bothers me more than prejudice is government forced integration. We have the right to discriminate against any person for any reason we choose. I remember hearing a recent story of how a Waffle House was sued for refusing to serve several black people. At the cost of sounding radical I think the owner of that store has every right to choose who can and who cannot enter his establishment, regardless of how skewed his attitude might be. The stores that sell to blacks, whites, asians, and hispanics will profit while the other stores close. Otherwise we have to reconcile ourselves to the fact that abusive husbands can join clubs for battered women, Neo-nazi's can sue to gain membership in the NAACP, and normal healthy people can join the Special Olympics. You can't pick and choose where and when to apply anti-discrimination laws, if it goes for one it must go for all or it is itself discriminatory.Whew...     You wont get slammed for that. You made a very good point. While I say I will never support a group or have a care what they say I also believe they have the right to do what they want. As far as the restaurant and stores, like you said they should have a right to sell,serve to whoever they want. Too much government telling people what to do with their own deals. This is a free country right?

    Well 7mm one thing will come out of it ...we will know realy witch "genetic" code will be the "superior" one ,simply after 10 or 15 generations the superior genes of the strongest race will prevail ....maybe we will get blond hair "Punta Kintes" or KKK dragons with afros .... be sure America will never be the same again ...HE HE HE ...!

    Interesting thread!I think I must be the only conservative, Republican, metal/hard rock listening, NRA GOA member person of color out here (not on this forum, I mean where I live) so I seem to get prejudice from many angles.I'm just as sick and tired of listening to David Duke white supremacist idiots as Al Sharpton NAACP morons; neither end of the spectrum offer nothing constructive in the final analysis.I don't care what people want to believe as long as they don't push it in my face and bother me.Where I used to live, my neighbor's friend was a Klan member. I read some of the propaganda leaflets he had and I knew these idiots are just ignorant, but he was cool with me so I was cool with him (he even gave me a couple of guitar lessons and shared his Jack Daniels with me). We shared a penchant for 1911s and Stratocasters and that's all we ended up talking about.Find a common ground and things will be OK.

    This is an old thread.. I have stood my ground toe to toe. I have a friend who opened up a Nail shop. He is Vietmanese. Came into my store one day and the town would not give him a business license. SC still has this going on.. I put him in my truck and went to the administration building. 5 mins. later he has one. Then no one in town would help setting up the work stations in his building so he and his wife could start doing their thing.. No plumbing contractors would do it. I did. No charge. My business failed and closed. He was sad. I got over it. I had my building for sale and no lookers. I had met his brother and he was also a fine guy and said if I ever needed anything to call him. I did about 2 years later . I ask him if he would meet me in front of my building one afternoon. He did that day. I had a tape measure , and ask him not to say a word but act interested in purchasing it. He was there for 15 mins. and 3 other proprietors stopped in to see ( nose ) what was going on. I ran them all off and said I had business .. His brother left, and so did I . Then when I get home 15 mins later the phone has a message on it. Realtor called and said they would purchase the building. Sold full price that night. Just goes to show y'all that prejudge still exists...

    I do not allow my prejudice effect Business or Friendship.
    You cannot combat prejudice except in yourself.
    You can and should combat people who have allowed their prejudice to harm others.

    just for clarification, i think people should be judged by their indidual charecter alone.
    It just bothers me when the news reports, and every screams racism ,b/c all 5 police chiefs are white or something like that
    People can think what they want, i may not like it if they are a neo nazi, but i will leave them alone.
    If they commit a crime, they should be punished just like anybody else, also the private stigma they suffer is deserved

    Lost a job because I stood up to a group of bigots. The shame of this affair is that it was in a church run school. The bigots ran the place and that was the end of me, and some others as well. At least I wasn't alone. I'm glad I'm not associated with them any longer.

    Do I have anything against people who are prejudiced? hell no, I am prejudiced myself, although not by race but rather by appearance and behavior. If I see someone wearing a ballcap cocked at an angle and pants half falling off their *, I automatically assume that person is a thug (of course there are plenty of white kids that do this too); however I give civilized people the respect they deserve, regardless of superficial differences.

    The difference between ordinary people and those who join hate groups is that the hate group members hate black people (or white people or jews,etc. etc.) simply because of skin color or ethnicity. What many people just don't get is that most of these "*insert race here* supremacist" groups are by definition terrorist organizations. Threatening civilians with acts of violence or committing acts of violence to intimidate civilians is by definition terrorism.

    It is our duty to remain vigilant against terrorists at home. While an all out private war is somewhat excessive, steps should be taken to undermine their operations.

    It's wrong to stereotype a racial group solely on the basis of the fact that 95% of their number have a propensity for violence, crime, and social dysfunction.

    Myself, I'm always very careful to kiss all minorities' butts, because I certainly wouldn't want to be called names.[;)]
