How to cut granite

I am redoing my powder room and it's such a small area (5x7) that I am thinking of doing a nice black granite floor. The thing I want to know is can you cut granite with a regular ceramic wet cutting system? Or do you need to get a special diamond blade or something. Since not too many tiles will need to be cut, even a mickey mouse solution would work for me. Any advice appreciated!

A 10,000 RPM grinder with an $80 diamond wheel will score, and cut granite. It is fastest doing it dry.

If you score it, you can snap it, saving cutting time and the blade. You'll end up with a rough edge, but it will look more hand-cut.

If you want a clean edge, you'll need a decent wet saw setup. $300 minimum. And the blade.

One should be able to plan out their floor with all the cuts around the perimeter, where they will be covered with trim [and under the hopper].

I deleted my other post because I now realize that you're just talking about scoring tiles already sawn flat and polished, not cutting tiles yourself from raw granite. Sorry.
