It was cool to see arnie with that mini-gun in terminator part 2. Although the bullets being used in this link are far larger than what arnie used. [8D][8D][8D]
That's awesome.
I think it was a test fire of a GAU-8 30mm 7 barreled Avenger cannon.
The same cannon on our A-10 Thunderbolt II's(commonly called the Warthog).
If I recall it has a selectable rate of fire, from 2,400 rounds/min to 4,200 rounds per min.
The M-61 20mm 6 barreled vulcan cannon standard on nearly all US fighters (F-14, F-15, F-16, F-18, F-22, and soon the F-35 I think) has an even high rate of fire, up to 6,000 rounds per minute, or 100 rounds a second.
Of course the 20mm round is a ice cream compared to the 30 mm round.
I dont know exact cartridge dimensions, but if its just scaled up from 20 to 30, then its 1.5 times longer, with a radius 1.5 larger, and shuld have 3.375 times as much kinetic energy.
Definetly puts your Barret 50 bmg semi auto to shame.
I seem to recall seeing that video before.
Maybe because I've posted it before. . . [:p]
Anyway its kind of impressive, though probably not all too practical for backyard plinking (at 40 rounds per second and probably $3+ per round!).
