Venezuela Dictator Vows To Bring Down U.S. Government

Venezuela government is sole owner of Citgo gasoline company

Venezuela Dictator Hugo Chavez has vowed to bring down the U.S. government.
Chavez, president of Venezuela, told a TV audience: "Enough of imperialist
aggression; we must tell the world: down with the U.S. empire. We have
to bury imperialism this century."

The guest on his television program, beamed across Venezuela, was Cindy
Sheehan, the antiwar activist. Chavez recently had as his guest Harry
Belafonte, who called President Bush "the greatest terrorist in the world."

Chavez is pushing a socialist revolution and has a close alliance with
Cuban dictator Fidel Castro.

Regardless of your feelings about the war in Iraq, the issue here is
that we have a socialist dictator vowing to bring down the government of the
U.S. And he is using our money to achieve his goal!

The Venezuela government, run by dictator Chavez, is the sole owner of
Citgo gas company. Sales of products at Citgo stations send money back to
Chavez to help him in his vow to bring down our government.

Take Action

Please decide that you will not be shopping at a Citgo station. Why should
U.S. citizens who love freedom be financing a dictator who has vowed to
take down our government?

Very important. Please forward this to your friends and family. Most
of them don't know that Citgo is owned by the Venezuela government.

The problem is the oil from that source goes into the pipeline and is used by all retailers, not just Citgo. You can't touch him unless we cut back our need to import oil from that source. Our government would have to stop buying from them.

The only way to take away their power is to find an alternative to oil in this country.

13% of our imported crude oil comes from Venezuela, only Mexico and Canada supply us with more oil. All those petro-dollars have made Chavev a very rich boy and he has a very big mouth. Venezuela is not a wealthy nation so unlike Canada, Chavez needs to export all that oil in order to keep himself afloat. As sig232 mentioned, petroleum from Venezuela is not marketed exclusively by Citgo so a boycott of thier motor fuels will not * Chavez, although it should destroy many independent Citgo retailers. None of our petroeum trading partners can make up the 13% short fall which would result from shutting off the importation of crude from Venezuela so how badly you want to stick it to Chavez depends on how much additional money you want to spend at the pump. Since people are currently outraged at motor fuel prices I doubt there is going to much inerest in paying an additional 50 to 75 cents a gallon for gasoline just to shut up some South American loud mouth. Is it worth paying $4 per gallon for gasoline for several months (until the Chavez government falls) in order to boot that guy out of Venezuela?

We already tried the same move in another oil rich country with a troublesome/loud mothed dictator: Iraq. You can see how great that turned out!

We're so hell bent on beating the world but making sure we don't take casualties in the process...I say that we need to look at our own country and find out who we can live without...then start launching nukes at the capitals of non-friendly, nuke-toting countries, and then move onto the non-friendly, nuke-less countries, all while carrying the message: "Mess with us and you're next, regardless of how many casualties we take."

We consume around 22 million barrels of oil a day in the United States with about 11.5 million barrels being imported. About 50% of this imported crude oil comes from Canada (20%), Mexico and Venezuela (15% each). Saudi Arabia and Nigeria provide another 8 or 9% each. the rest of the crude comes from a various other countries, some quite friendly to the United States and others not friendly at all. United States oil comsumption is like the herion addict who bad mouths his dealer, even while he continues to jam a needle into his arm while demanding more and more dope. One of these days the coutries who keep selling us massive quantities oil are going to have had enough and will turn off the taps...especially if they read the kinds of crap which is written about them in online forums. We are quite fortunite that both Mexico and Venezeula are poor countries and depend on petro-dollars to keep their economies afloat, otherwise they could * us in a matter of weeks by cutting off the flow of crude oil. There are already PLENTY of Canadians who are fed up with sending tens of millions of barrels of their oil south every year to feed the insatiable demand we have in the United States for oil...especially other people's oil! All the saber rattling and usual talking about nuking someone and taking their oil is nothing but the usual online BS which people enjoy reading about, but of course scares no one since it will never happen. The actual options are limited to three: Keep things the way they are and keep paying top dollar for oil, change your energy consumption habits and use less crude or change your sources of fuel (coal, ethanol, methanol ect.). No one likes to hear this stuff but this is the way things play out.
