Made a POST a week or so back re: new camp generator that was too loud (Coleman). Bought a Supertrap muffler ($72.00)...After some machining...I had it installed and ready within a few hours. The generator sounded better without the muffler! If your looking for the quietest generator...ANYWHERE...Suck it up and buy a Honda...Unbelievably quiet! (Or as someone suggested...a looong extension cord)...

Your right about the honda Gens. Quiet I have a simple extension tube on mine that helps with the noise.
The only way I have ever gotten any SuperTrap muffler on my bike to pass a 98DB sound test is to pull them apart and pack the crap out of them.

Aong these lines: I have a 14hp. V-Briggs on my generator, and have it in the garage wired into the main breaker box for the house. Attached garage and entirely to noisy in the house when it's running. What effect would putting say a 10ft. extension tube on it and running it outside have? Would this has adverse effects on the engine..?
The engine noise is louder than the exaust on my honda Gen.
Take good care of em.

I hope it's not an attached garage, the fumes migrait in side a home, you could wake up DEAD. Becareful with that. you would be surprised how many people die with this same setup.
It is attached, but we just throw the outside doors open when it's running, so no problem there.
