Tried to explain to my son

what all my gun stuff was. I told him if something happened to me, What stocks and parts go with what guns. I have multiple stocks for each gun and screws, dies, ect. He really didn;t care. Guess its just the age. He is 19. I finally told him when he is ready to pay attention to let me know.

I have not been feeling good lately and think my cancer might be coming back. I have to go to the docters on monday for some blood work. I know it is probably nothing but I want him to understand what to do with all my stuff. I just dont want my inlaws to get a hold of it. They are greedy as the day is long.

I plan on being around a long time but you never know. I wish there was one person I could trust to help him if anything did happen to me.I do have a will but that means nothing to my wife. She would sell the guns in a heartbeat and that is not what I want.

Thanks for letting me get that off my chest. I feel better now.I just needed to tell someone and you guys are good listeners.Oakie

    You need a new will.
Or a trust- that owns a lot of guns and gun parts.

I am a Duke fan but i went to UNC for my cancer. Only one place would see me. Every other doctor told me they were sorry that they could not help. Then one doctor told me about a young hot shot that would do it. I am 47 and he is about 39 or so. Trevor Hackman a great doctor who saved my life.

If your wife will not follow your wishes on your death you need a trusted friend to be the executor to insure that your wishes are followed. My wife is no gun expert but is smart about money and knows they are worth money. She has directions on how to dispose of my collection and a few specific guns go to specific people based on my will.

isn't this the same wife that threw away your things?? Now you say she would just sell your guns even though you wish them to go to your son?

Oakie... Ever considered making a video...
Something that would remain IF anything happens to you.
In that way... You, Yourself would be that one person that You could trust in the end.

    Just a thought...

Do NOT make your wife the executor of your estate. Get a nonrelative professional, such as an attorney and retain HIM as the executor. You will provide him with your will and an inventory of your belongings. THEN your wife will not be able to legally dispose of ANY of your property. Let your wife know and let the attorney know that your wife knows. Then when you die, he will step in and safeguard your belongings and execute your wishes. You've seen it in a dozen movies. The attorney calls a meeting soon after the death and lets everyone know what is legally their's and what isn't. If anyone tries to take what isn't bequeathed to them, the attorney will file charges. That should put the fear into crooked relatives.

Best of luck to you in the mean time. [:)]

I know I only know you by internet, but if you ever need my help, I have plenty of room, and I would be more than willing to carry out whatever it is you wish. If that means waiting till your boy gets older than so be it. I would help any way I can.

In the mean time, I'm sure your just fine.

Hope for the best, and don't dwell on it.

''leave them to him in the Will, and MAKE SURE he has a copy. Or better yet, bills of sale for every one of them, to him.

Oakie, I will be praying for you! I hate going to the doctor! Seems like at this age each time I go something else is broken down.

    Good luck, Buddy!
