    I don't know why they feel its so special. there is no difference in that and a hillbilly with a cane pole. I guess its the "aristocracy attitude" fly fishermen have.

    Yeah we used cane poles back in the 50s. Same principle.

    Only good on very small water. I like more options.

    Fly fishing is a ton of fun....My Dad and I used to fish the White River in Missouri in the 70's. That style certainly limits the water you can cover.

    And it does remind me more of the Crappie rigs we used as kids..

    I've caught plenty of fish on a cane pole. that is an interesting method, Once I get the kids off to school, I will have the chance to try fly fishing...

    There are few videos on youtube where the Japanese fellow is launching on wide waters. After hooking a fish he'll grab the line with his casting hand and then hand retrieve the rest of the line. Besides being in California there ain't gonna be any big water left by summer time [:D].

    Picked me up a single eye 13 foot Ugly Stik Crappie pole a while back for doing that.
