Too much bite for your gun? [USPC40 vs USPC9]

I had the pleasure of owning a USPC40 this past year.
When I got a chance to finally fire it, I thought it was a little light in the paw, for that caliber.
I sold it and bought the USPC9. The Nine seems perfect.
While at the range today, a fella and I traded guns for a bit; I took his USPC40, and he tried my USPC9.
I was not sure what to expect, but the 40 felt fine.
I had more control with the Nine, but the Forty was fine also.
Thinking back, I realized that both times I fired my USPC40, 300 rounds total, I was freezing, my hands were cold as heck, and that probably contributed to my negative experience.
Sure, the USPC40 has a new home, and I didn't lose anything but $25, but it taught me a thing about perceived recoil. You can get different impressions with the same gun in different shooting environments.
Another thing: I thought the USPC40 was a tad too thick for my hand, and my freezing calloused hand, taking the recoil, was telling me I didn't completely enjoy the gun. The same gun, in 9mm, on a warm spring day, seemed fine in my hand. Funny, both guns measure the same.
Taking it a step further, the 1911, slimmer than both, with more punch, was, as usual, a pleasure.
The moral of the story: Don't trade off a gun until you shoot it in a variety of environments.
Selling guns is a losing proposition; you will only be left with one less piece you wish you kept.

Oh, NOW you tell me. [:(!]
Anybody got a near-new Security Six they want to give away?
Back on the subject, I usually refrain from shooting certain handguns when it is really cold outside. It takes the fun out of the trip to the range.
Who makes a 2.5" .454 ? Are you making this up as you go ?
Ruger does.

yeah think a 40 is bad with cold hands, try a 454 casull with a 2 1/2 in barrel in 32 or colder weather, talk about living of I-B profeen
Just because im the idoit of Gunbroker doesn't mean i'm dumb.
7.62 x 39 I realize you probably have a vast and indeed impressive collection of guns, could you do me a favor and post a pic of this Casull with a two inch barrel? And just because you are an idiot doesn't make you dumb, however I believe the fact that you are dumb makes you an idiot.

This is the ruger.
As for the cold day on the range it's no fun unless you're with your buddies to take some of the chill off (with warm B.S.) [;)].
