Dumb Climbers

What is your opinion of people who do very dangerous or just plain stupid things, get their butts in a sling and expect some average Joe to risk his life to save them?

This could include hikers, climbers, off road adventurers and whoever.

Does society owe these people or not?

Thanks

Since there are times when nature just lets you know how insignificant we really are. People who gets lost or goes ill equiped and has to be rescued I think they should pick up the bill. Or have insurance like AAA for cases when you have to be rescued. I recall the trio of Japanese reporters who got kidnaped had to pay back seemed fair. They were warned not to go but they went anyways and ended up on t.v. begging to be helped. The world thought they suffered enough but had to pay for the rescue seemed too much. I think Japan's Society has their own way of dealing with their people, let them do as they see fit without the world butting in.
