WOW, I'm sure the gas company is going to be sued heavily over this one....

PG&E done blew up San Bruno and I don't think they paid yet. That was like 5 years ago?

Actually 8 years ago this month, and it was one hell of an explosion.

Okay 8. I don't think they got paid still. Then you got Santa Rosa where they're trying to spin it to PG&E's transformer lighting up that whole city. Either case the folks will be long dead before any power company pony ups the cash.

Old gas lines that were never checked and upgraded that turned into multiple connected "fuses". Like a string of dominoes leading to individual houses!

Makes me kind of glad to pay a slightly higher price for the self contained propane pig tank and its gas!

Old infrastructure and years of kicking the can down the road not fixing or maintaining said infrastructure WILL have dire consequences. Water mains to gas lines. Bridges to tunnels.
Older the city or dnc "sanctuary" the more likely the area is neglected and ruined.

I would have to assume that there was a very significant overpressure event. Natural gas is typically at very low pressures (50 - 60 PSIG). Multiple failures like this are not caused by old piping, rather by a huge mistake or a cascade failure of the pressure regulating system (or both).
Freedom and a submissive populace cannot co-exist.

    +1

Several 1000 homes developed a inside leak and fire

It did not come from UG leak, most likely overpressure.

    Might be Russia's fault.[;)]

I read somewhere that someone in the company made a big "mistake" and funneled high pressure into low pressure residential lines causing pilot lights to turn into blow torches So I guess folks with electronic ignition appliances were fine, so long as they didn't turn them on.

Could it have been a computer hack? A terrorist attack? Now Pocahontas is demanding a congressional investigation.
