The subdivision they are building just outside of town all the houses are 2 story really big houses.

On the other side of the road they are building 1 story and about 1600 sq ft.

The foundation is poured concrete. They poured the concrete then built the house.

Then they poured concrete and built the garage.

Why would they not pour it all at the same time?

    Perhaps they were different mixes.

Will the double decker block the sun from the single story?

No they are different sides of the street. The nice big expensive houses are on one side of the road and the 2 small 1600 sq ft are on the other.

The "recipe" for concrete is different depending on the use of the concrete.

Concrete that is the right mix for a sidewalk is not the right mix for a house foundation, which may not be the right mix for the garage floor.

I work for a company that takes samples of wet concrete at building sites, cures it and subjects it to lab tests to show that it IS the right stuff for that project. Want to see some scrambling? Send a contactor a report that his 10,000 pound strength critical pour concrete was in fact a 3,000 pound sidewalk grade mix.

So why not just mix all the concrete as the really high strength early setting mix with high entrained air and a super plasticizer to make it flow into the forms? THAT stuff is expensive!

Thomas Edison would be impressed with some of the breakthroughs with concrete. His concept complete concrete homes has come to fruition. Though not that popular..

I love concrete home/buildings. I plan to build a compound out of them when I win the lotto. It'll make the cops and the feds work extra hard to get my chunky monkey * [:D].
