Wells Fargo recently lost data again on it's customers and sent out a notice to all account holders.

They lost data on 30,000 mortgage holders in 2004.

They lost data on 2 million customers in 2005.

The VA lost data on 26.5 million veterans.

Citibank lost data on 3.6 million card holders.

CardSystems Solutions lost data on 40 million various credit card holders (www.securityfocus.com/news/11219)

In 2002 the IRS lost 2300 whole computers with citizens information (www.senate.gov/~grassley/releases/2002/p02r1-09a.htm)

This is just a quick search I did.

The trend seems to be missing/stolen laptops/computers.

If this is a terrorist act they could bankrupt America in a week with that information.

Imagine our banking system completely disolving overnight from Identity Theft.

    Terrorists aren't that capable.

Only the incompetence of Big Business and the Federal government could do this much harm to the American people - they do by accident what terrorists dream of doing by design.

you missed the THOUSANDS of SSN#s, CC #s and medical records that have been stolen this year already. It happens daily and really is nothing that surprises me anymore. We get faxes weekly from lenders about systems that have been hacked or "lost". A very low percentage of the people actually have anything malicious happen because of it. Sad to say but it is a by product of how commerce is done today. You have 2 choices... take the chance or not.
