watch out for this scam sellers

HI! Just wanted to warn all of you that this scam is hitting close to home. I had a gun on here for auction and had a guy e-mail me that he wanted to buy it. He said that he had a friend in my state that owed him $4000, and that the guy would send me the money and I could send the rest $3500 back to the original buyer. Sounded weird to me b/c I've already had a similar scam tried on me. Well, the deal is that they want you to deposit this fake check into your account and before the bank finds that it is counterfeit they are hoping that you will Western Union them the money. Well, I didn't get had, but I can imagine that others have. I wish there was some way I could get this guy, but he's in London, I think. And, really there is nothing the law can or will do about it. Just a warning to everyone. Watch out for this scam and others like it.

Its wierd, but three of the queens subjects wanted to buy an old beater Chevy pickup from me. Two were obviously scams..the other looked legit. Especially after I went to the Western Union and got the CASH! [:D]

Use common sence. Nobody is going to want to overpay a stranger for any reason!

Thats why I allways use postal money orders when I buy. If the person wants to verify they can goto/call the post office to verify that they are good. And if I was selling, I would ask for a postal money order for the same reason. I also wouldn't take one for more that the purchase ammount.

Unfortunatly the days of my grandfather where you could just trust a mans word are gone, there are just to many scamsters out there today.

I never understand these deals where you are asked to send money to a thrid party collected from a second party. I've never asked anyone to pay my bills for me. They always seem so obvious and transparent as flim-flam but I guess some people fall for them or the crooks wouldn't keep trying.
