Just saw this on the Dear & Dear Hunting FaceBook page.

"It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we report the sudden passing of longtime D&DH Senior Field Editor Charles J. Alsheimer of Bath, N.Y. Charlie was not only our longest-tenured contributor (since 1979), he was a very dear friend to everyone on our staff. His insights on deer behavior and hunting helped educated countless thousands of whitetail fanatics. Rest in peace, sir."

I have attended several of Mr. Alsheimer's Whitetail Deer seminars, the most recent being this past fall in Central Square NY.

He was an outstanding wildlife photographer, and has done a lot for Whitetail deer studies & biology. He has authored several really good books on the topic of hunting deer & the practice of Quality Deer Management (QDM).

Having personally heard his testimony, I am certain he is in a tree stand in heaven taking pictures of some of the greatest animals of all.

RIP Charlie, you will be missed sir.

I met him in a restaurant in Bath several years back. I was down there hunting at a friend's place, in Steuben County.

I did not know who he was, at the time. He just seemed like a regular guy to me....and I mean that in a good sense.

    RIP, Sir.
